WW2 Aircraft Instrumentation Question by
RobbelothE
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a "standard" airspeed
indicator and an F-1 airspeed indicator is? Was there any external difference
when one was installed? I'm looking at B-24's.

USAF = US Amphetamine Fools by
RT
Following an investigative teev program it appears US military pilots are
unable to stay awake for more than a few minutes after t/o so are regularly
dosed to the eyeballs on speed (Dexadrine/amphetamine).
This has the somewhat embarrassing side effect of giving them the total lack

asymetric warfare by

What would be sensible strategies/weapons for a middle-ranking
country to employ if it thought it is likely to be involved in a war
against the USA or other Western countries, say in the next 10
years?
I think one strategy would be to use large numbers of low cost
cruise missiles (LCCM). The...

Have fun being in denial.

Why a Swept-Wing? by
James Dandy
Pardon my ignorance on all matters concerning modern aviation but just
why the hell would you want to sweep a wing forward?
Doesn't that make any aircraft unstable? If so, why would any pilot
feel safe in it?
Has anyone ever made one work?

Bush Flew Fighter Jets During Vietnam by
WalterM140
To put it in perspective, here are 9 ways Bush got favored treatment in the
service due to his political connections (he
was then son of a Congressman and grandson of a former Senator):
1) He got into the Guard by pulling strings, avoiding the year and a half
waiting...

Best dogfight gun? by
Bjørnar Bolsøy
It takes time to wind up and has a small projectile, so how does
the M61 really stack up against, say, the BK27 og Giat 30mm as
far as dogfighting is concerned? Even with the PGU28?
Is shot density the primary factor to look at?

C-5 Galaxy hit by missile over Baghdad by
Aerophotos
Seems in the news, a USAF C-5 Galaxy was hit by a unkown missile over
Baghdad, it then landed due to USAF reasons "was a excessive noise
vibrations in a engine" - no mention of missile at all when first
published.
Some noise vibrations eh?, imagine if it was shot down?
USAF PR would describe it...
