EA-81 Pulses per second? by
Derek Anderson
Any assistance on this would be appreciated.
I have a reconditioned EA-81 engine in my ultralight and am setting up the
digital instrument package (Strathomaster). In the instrument setup it has
pulses per ten for the engine revolutions (the wire goes to the coil), does
anyone know what this should...

ANN is biased ZZZJJJ by
ChuckSlusarczyk
I have said all along that zoom is biased when it comes reporting the news
especially about those he doesn't like. The latest is his announcing of the John
Moody Award to Jack McCornack by the USUA. zoom states that:
"The most prestigious of these awards is the Moody Award -- named for...

Motorcycle engines ??? by
DarylG1532
Since Motorcycle engines are air cooled, and you can install a fairly
lightweight belt reduction drive, why aren't more rice burners being used in
UL's?

Canard planes swept wing outer VG's? by
Paul Lee
I have the copy of the CAFE test of Cozy Mk IV canard where it states
that swept wings tend to start stalling at the tip rather than the root.
This moves the center of lift forward and is a bigger problem for aft
CG.
While canard planes swept wings typically already have those
"vortilon" tabs, has...

New California Tax Provision by
Jim Weir
There has been a new wrinkle added to the California state/local property tax
exemption for aircraft of "historical interest". Historical interest is an
aircraft over 35 years old OR an aircraft that there are less than 5 copies of
in the world.
Most of us flying old airplanes fit into the 35...

Advice on flying Pitts with Haigh Locking Tailwheel by
Ditch
Hey all,
Here's the deal. I am going to be ferrying a Pitts S-1S from Florida to New
York next week. This airplane is equipped with a Haigh locking tailwheel. I
have about 800 hours in various models of Pitts (S-2A, S-2B, S-1C and S-1S) but
have never flown one with a locking tailwheel. I have...

Weight of snow on wings by
Michael Horowitz
Assuming wet snow on the wings of a highwing (Taylorcraft in this
case),
Because of the presence of the struts, I'm trying to visualize if the
spars would be hurt by the weight.
I've viewing the strut attach point as a pivot point. Assuming an even
distribution of snow, the moment around that...

Dacron by
Jimmy Galvin
I had a wing stored for a couple of weeks. I thought it was resting on the
leading edge tube but a part of it was resting on a 2x4 on the Dacron
fabric. It put about a 2" pucker in the fabric and hasn't come out. Can
Dacron be shrunk with an iron like the polyester used in Poly-Fiber System?

Best Alodine by
Larry Smith
I'm using DuPont's Aluminum Conversion but it doesn't work as well as some
I've seen. I want a little better etch. Also it is too expensive. Who
has a better source? The old literature speaks of a powder form chromic
acid etch. Anybody know where to find it at a good price? Thanks.

Do any of you need help? by

So I will start work on my PPL (or SPL, still trying to decide) late this
summer and I've been thinking building my own plane (kit or plan, still
trying to decide :). But before I make the decision I'm thinking it would
help if I knew what it entailed. So if any of you folks are building a plane

Seems like the kind of thing somebody who wants to pump their own fuel
would find handy. Comes with hoses. He's looking to get $100 for it.
If you're interested, I can put you in touch...

Anyone here flown a Glasair 1? by
Tom Andersen
I'm considering buying a completed Glasair 1 FT with an IO360 and FP prop.
I fly a Grumman Cheetah but want a lot more speed and range. I cannot find
any V-speeds on the net for the Glasair 1, only for the Glasair ll. What
kind of TO and LDG distances does it require?
