C182S - CHT's and EGT's by
john smith
Any flying a C182S with all six cylinders being monitored, what are you
seeing for CHT's EGT's(corresponding power settings and fuel flows)?
At 65% power 23" MP and 2300 RPM I am seeing 1400 deg F CHT's and 410
deg F CHT's with fuel flows lean of peak about 12-13 gph.

Weiner Bill pulled by
David Herman
Good news. EAA is reporting that the Weiner bill that would have
essentially ended all GA flying has been yanked before it got out of the
starting blocks.
Details on EAA's website (I'm sure AOPA will have something too soon):

On Sept 29th Burt Rutan's Space Ship One is scheduled to make its first X-Prize flight attempt in Mojave Airport. Then on Oct 2nd the Canadian DaVinci Team will make their first flight attempt in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. I plan to see them both.
I will be flying my own Skylane from RHV in San...

Adding tail draggers to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 (Citabria, Aeronca) by
Cub Driver
A friend downloaded a J-3 "skin" for Flight Sim and invited me over.
It was nothing like! I was amused by the vibration when it landed, but
as a simulation it was an utter failure, beginning with the fact that
I couldn't see out the side wndows when S-turning!
But that was after-market, of course,...

Diesel aircraft engines and are the light jets pushing out the twins? by
Dude
I don't see the fuel burn on the small turbines competing with the diesels,
but there are some attempts at getting close to the Lycosaur level.
Here is one - http://www.innodyn.com/
Don't know anything about them though.
As for light jets pushing down demand for twin piston and turbo props,...

Carb ice by
C J Campbell
I was flying with an instrument student yesterday (she is almost done) and
she noted that the engine was running rough and turned on the carb heat.
Sure enough, the engine began running so rough that the cowl was shaking. I
hoped it would go away as we continued toward Tacoma Narrows, but it did...

Engine for home built by
Chris Gumm
I'm putting together some numbers for a homebuilt kit. I'm looking at the
RV-7a, Glasair SII RG and Glasair III. Both of the web sites mention
Lycoming engines but from going though the AOPA Pilot mag, there seams to be
a lot more choices. Are the other engine manufactures any good? Is Lycoming

PA-23 Aztec by
onsitewelding
I would like to get my multi rating and then buy a light twin. I have done
some research (very little actualy) but it seems from what I have read and
been told that the piper aztec is a fairly easy twin to learn to fly, not
too much of a maintenance hog and is a good solid aircraft. Not to...
