Long Tow Rope Pros & Cons by
chris
Janusz Kesik )wrote of using 30m
tow ropes as standard and 20m for experienced pilots in Poland.
In the US I'm accustomed to being aerotowed behind a 150 to 200 foot
tow rope. However my club has been experimenting with using a
longer rope: 275ft. This struck me as...

Speed Astir by
Guy Acheson
I owned a flew a Speed Astir for many years. It was
my first glass ship after gaining about 40 hours in
rental glass ships. The Speed is a natural transition
from the Grob 103 to the Grob 102 and then the Speed
Astir (Grob G104). I got more compliments on how good
it looked than anyone. I had...

Aerotow rope drogue chute? by
John Galloway
I have a vague recollection that a while back someone

some information - or did I just...

Odd thing in Houston by
303pilot
This isn't soaring related, but I just saw the oddest thing out my office
window. My office is on the beltway, 15 miles from downtown. The sky is
clear. A large (bigger than a 737) passenger jet escorted by one or more
small aircraft circled downtown Houston about 30 minutes ago and departed...

Mylar (again) by
JJ Sinclair
I installed Mylar on my ship last spring and I followed all the guide-lines.
Sanded the underside of the Mylar and the corresponding side of the wing with
220 grit. I wiped everything down and rolled the Mylar down with considerable
pressure.
Half way through my first contest this spring, I found...
