B40 replacement speaker? by
Frank[_1_]
I think My B40 speaker is getting kind of weak. Even at full volume
it is just barely audible, and I'm wondering what to do for a
replacement speaker.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
Frank (TA)

Best 3 antennae combo for PowerFLARM? by
[email protected]
Going to try dual Craggy Aero 1/2 wave antennas on FLARM 1 and FLARM 2 mounted on both canopy rails just in front of the vent window.
If you are running FLARM 1 and FLARM 2 antennae, where did you mounted the 3rd FLARM short diapole ADS-B antennae?
I find many aftermarket 916MHz PowerFLARM...

Best Book for New Teen Glider Students by
[email protected]
Many options available today for introductory books for student teen glider pilots.
Which one(s) are preferred and why? Responses from clubs and commercial schools would be appreciated. Our new club is developing a program for teens.
Thanks

Who is oldest glider pilot by
Casey[_2_]
Just saw this on the news. Oldest power pilot.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -- It's a classic saying: There are old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no "old, bold pilots."
Last week, the Guinness Book of World Records named 98-year-old Ernie Smith, of Red Oak, Iowa, the oldest active pilot in...

PW-5 type certification by
ARDI BELTZA
I'm new to soaring and don't quite understand why so many sailplanes are registered under the "experimental" category.
Why would a glider with for which a type certificate is available, like the PW-5, be registered as experimental. It does seem like many aircraft that were once type certified...

Great Soaring Video by
Dan Marotta
A short clip from where I work; Sundance Aviation, Moriarty, NM, USA.
Notice there's no zip, no wow, no horrible, pounding "music", just the
serene nature of the sport. I wish more soaring videos were of similar
quality.

OBTW, I was flying the Pawnee that day.

How to be a Task-setter / CD by
noel.wade
OK, I may be digging my own grave with this one (I'm anticipating a
dogpile of worn-out contest volunteers)...
But I have to ask: Are there any published books or articles on how
to be a CD or how to learn to be a task-setter? Is it purely an
"apprenticeship" method of learning, or are there...

l'Hotellier on EB28 by
rlovinggood
The first edition of the new magazine, "Gliding International" has an
article on the 2 seat self-launch super glider, the EB28. I would
have thought that a glider of this class would have automatic hookups,
but it uses l'Hotellier connections.
Do other current design open class ships use...

Words terms & public perception by
fredsez
Over here on this side of the pond, how should I advertise or tell my
friends (yet to meet) that I fly something like an aircraft without an
engine running?
If I say Glider, I often hear "Oh, you fly hang gliders?"
If I say I fly sailplanes, I hear "What is that?"
If I say I am going soaring, I...

flying speed. I can't seem to find that video. Help?

SN10 Remote Repair by
Mike the Strike
My SN10 remote has lost the knobs and shafts from two of the rotary
switches. One of them kept falling off from about day one and I've
stuck it back dozens of times, but it has eventually disappeared into
the dirt on our field. A second one is now showing the same symptoms.
This looks like it...

ASH 25e takeoff distances by
nimbusgb
I am considering the purchase of an ASH 25e. One of the concerns is
our operating field. On some days a Nimbus 3t with 25.5 m tips things
can be a little marginal if the ship is at max T/O weight. How does
the ASH 25 compare if flown empty but 2 up?
We are operating off a 'lush' grass field...

Polyurethane finish? by
Uniform Zulu
I recently purchased a glider which was refinished
in polyurethane and I'm wondering what is the best
way to look after the finish?
Should I put something like wxblock on it or just use
a good automotive wax? should it be hard waxed and
buffed like gel coat?
What about fixing any problem areas?...

Jaca, Spain - Expeditions and Oxygen Availability by

Having flown there last year, a couple of us from Windrushers GC at
Bicester (UK) are taking a DG505 to Santa Cilia, Jaca this year
between about March 22nd and 30th. We know that Lasham have an
expedition that runs until the 30th and wonder who else is going to be
there.
More importantly we are...
