MS FS 2004 ---minimum equipment for IFR by
Gerald Sylvester
I just got my PPL and heard from some ATP rated friends that using
MS FS 2004 could help a bit for getting down some of the navigation
techniques for IFR. I figure for $50 that is about 25 minutes in
a IFR GPS equipped plane.
What is the minimum equipment *really* required to use MS FS...

Moving aircraft initial starting points in MSFS by
Gerald Sylvester
Is it possible to move an aircraft in MSFS either graphically or
by numbers (lat and long, alt, heading, IAS) easily? Right
now it appears I have to fly into the position/configuration
I want and then save it. If I want to practice approaches
at different airports, holding patterns (ADF, VOR,...

On Top 9 by
GFValvo
I see a lot of posts regarding MS FS here.
Anyone use On Top 9 (www.asa2fly.com/product1.asp?SID=1&Product_ID=756&)?
I find it very good for serious IFR procedures practice.
My only complaint is that it is very touchy in the pitch axis. Any others
experience this?

X-Plane for aircraft design by
Ghazan Haider
Can X-plane be used to design aircraft?
I've been trying to design aircraft in it, but most of my designs just
crash immediately as it starts in a fraction of a second, even though
most of the details are pretty reasonable (if the engine horsepower is
0, it just sits there, if its 1, it crashes...

High Altitude simulator accuracy in X-Plane by
Ghazan Haider
In X-plane 7.0, I have reached 240,000 ft in altitude with an F-16, and
290,000 with an SR-71. Now after 80,000 where the atmosphere is thin,
apparently the jet engines with afterburner are still pushing the
aircraft with the same force (no oxygen around).
I wonder if this accurately shows the...

X-plane vs FS2004 by
[email protected]
I just came across a rave review of X-plane by Richard Collins, so was
curious how well it compares to FS2004 in terms of realism, anybody who
has used both? I have used FS2004 and its a pretty decent product and
fun to play with, but was wondering if X-plane is better.
thanks

Flightgear really this slow on XP? by
[email protected]
Don't tell me to install Linux. I know that. It's currently not an
option.
I downloaded and installed FG on a fairly capable XP system (1.6ghz AMD
256 RAM and a good video card) and was blown away by the frame rate.
Like
one second per frame even in the lower resolution modes?
I shut down all the...

Expertise Needed: TU-154 Panel Question by
GlaringTruth
Concerning Dimitry Kolesnik's absolutely stunning TU-154 2D panel
(which Tibor Kókai included in his great TU154B-2 package for FS2004),
has anyone located the power switch for the primary attitude indicator
(the one w/ILS crossbars)?
I've been able to power-up all other instruments but not the...

Is there anyone still flying Flight Unlimited 1. There was a patch that

realistic manner. When i was flying the real ones the most fun that I had

solve the problem and haven't got a clue what would have caused it - corrupt

cursor city, landmark identification by
gonzo
It would be interesting to have the capability to move your cursor/mouse
over an area and a name pops up identifying what city/country you are in or
what river/lake/sea that is, or what building or landmark that is.
The function can be turned on and off easily. It can be tied to the GPS.

What is the idea of censoring on the group?
You censor worrybird and angus lopper and vincent dubois but not underground

Mr. or Mrs. Censor...Please back off and let the group speak. You don't
need to be so judgemental.

Undocking Windows in FS 04 by
goo
Hi Guys,
Just bought FS 2004 this afternoon and loaded it up. Pretty good so far.... don't know what the issue is with bridges yet, they are all around Ottawa, Canada in about the right places! (FS2002 didn't have any)
In any case the performance seems to be better at first glance. Just one...
