Any info or refs on this pic? by
John Mullen
Hi!
I scanned these pics from 'Fighting Jets of WW2' by Jeffrey Ethell and
Albert Price (which I thoroughly recommend btw)
http://www.johnmullen.org.uk/temp/262.jpg
The picture caption mentions that German helicopters were carried aboard HMS
Reaper and the photo credits the Smithsonian, whose...

Charles Lindbergh, racist & Nazi sympathizer by

In article ,

Some American hero.
When Lindbergh died in Hawaii did he consider the people there with
any more maturity than when he made his racist comments or did he just
consider them his coolies ?

Basic Stupid Newbie Questions... by
John Penta
[Note by author: This post edited before post to keep on-topic.
Editing very basic. Apologies if some stuff doesn't make sense....)
Hiya. I'm a newbie here. Please don't hurt me.:-)
Anyhow, was wondering if anyone here could help me with a tiny set
of questions I've had for a long, long time....

Replacement for C130? by
John Penta
Been thinking randomly here.
Is there any replacement for the C130 anywhere?
Specifically, for short/rough-field use?
I mean, hell. C130s nearly 50, ain't it?

Corruption in the US military by
John Penta
To be fair to him, so am I, but I'm in Pennsylvania. It's just that my
school doesn't have a USENET server, so I use a free one.

Takeoff/Landing roll data by
John Penta
Just to add to my virtual "Binder of Obscure Trivia", I'm wondering.
Where could I find data on the runway length needed for land-based
operations (for takeoff and landing) for:
F-16
F-15
F-14
F/A-22
B-52

[OT] Where to post? by
John Penta
Yes, I know it's bad to START a thread off-topic, but I have no idea
how else to ask.
OK, in my quest to look for bibliographies so I can do research for
school, I figured I'd look on USENET.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where to begin looking. Side-factor is
that I only know English; Not even...

max altitude and Mach 1 Now With Charts by
John R Weiss
"Boomer" wrote...
the first chart is an F-16 (it SAYS F-15 but a look at the stats tells you
otherwise) Notice that it's Max altitude comes BEFORE Mach1.
the second chart is for an SU-30, it also reaches max alt BEFORE Mach1.
the third chart should be a F-4 vs...

Comprehensive list of William Tell & Gusnmoke winners ? by
John S. Shinal
I did a fair bit of websearching, but didn't see a complete
list anywhere. Hard to believe none exists - bragging rights can be
irresistable. Just curiosity. Primarily looking for air results, but
would like to see "loadeo" results and such if they're out there.

Chinook shootdown - further info ? by
John S. Shinal
I'm unclear on whether the high or low bird was shot down ?
Any ideas on why one was so low ? Were they just lifting off, or
something ?
I don't want to discuss *anything* operational, I'm just
asking about what info has been released.

C-130H pilot/copilot visual recon on Sept. 11th - any further info ? by
John S. Shinal
In listening to the 9/11 Commission's report on CSPAN, I was
amazed by the fact that a C-130H just getting airborne was diverted to
recon the Pentagon attack, and then also reconned the crash site in
Pennsylvania. That's a busy morning.
While understanding the crew may want to stay anonymous,...

Hornet down @ RDU, pilot OK by
John S. Shinal
F-18 lost power during takeoff at Raleigh NC's RDU airport,
and ended up in a burning pile beside runway 2L - pilot ejected OK,
apparently unhurt.
Hornet is still burning like hell, despite a huge amout of
foam, no injuries on the ground, and a few airliners have taken off
since the accident.

Specs for a B24D Liberator by
John T. Slodyczka
I am looking for more specs on the B24D Liberator other than just length
wingspan and height. I am interested in such things as the thickness of the
wing at its thickest point, at its leading edge and trailing edge same with
the stabilizer. That would be the most important but I am aslo...
