will this fly? by
Lee Elson
Please excuse the cross post, but the topic might be of interest to
several groups.
I'm wondering whether providing light aircraft transportation services
(people and/or cargo) and consulting to small businesses is likely to
be a successful approach to setting up a very small aviation business.

More on High Performance Insurance by
Jay Honeck
I received this from a friend who knows a Diamond Star owner in MA:
"If you can afford the planes you can probably afford the insurance but
AVEMCO wanted $8300 per year for the SR20 and only about $4500 for the DA40.
It seems that low-time pilots have made a mess of many a Cirrus. (I got my

PIREP - Reiff Preheat Systems by
Joe Young
I recently decided to install an electric engine Preheater in my 1967
Cherokee 140. After reviewing the systems from EZ Start Heat, Inc., Tanis
Aircraft Systems and Reiff Preheat Systems, I chose the Reiff standard
system. Three items made the Reiff system compelling:
1. The system is modular - I...

Vibration is Citabria by
TIm Gilbert
We have a '67 KCAB that has a weird vibration from time to time. You can
feel it in the stick and seat. It is the worst around 2200-2400 rpm but
only in the air. On the ground it isn't noticeable. Oil analysis is fine
and the engine seems smooth. We've installed new motor mounts and
everything...

R. Hubbell
I was looking at this unit on the web and it looks great. If anyone has had any
hands on with this it would be interesting to hear first impressions or even
second or third.

calendar TBO by
Dan Luke
One finds many 20+ year old aircraft advertised with engine time =
airframe time, both in the neighborhood of 1000-1600 hours. Now, it is
my undersatanding that aircraft engines have a calendar TBO as well as a
tach TBO. however, prices for these aircraft do not seem to reflect
engines that are...

Wing Stall by
PaulaJay1
I did an interesting experiment in my Archer yesterday. I've read about the
wing washout and know the soft stall of my Archer but yeaterday I saw it.
Using small pieces of duct tape, I put eight, six inch ribbons on the left wing
- four along the leading edge, back about 10 inches, and four, 10...

finally go fly and now we freeze (172 air leaks) by
Mike Z.
My 172 M has some pretty big air leaks from behind the plastic pieces at the top of the windshield. It is coming from behind the
trim piece that encircles the vents and drops down the doorpost.
I don't see any point in caulking. It would just move the problem.
It ain't gonna get any warmer for a...
