Experience with StarkPower LIFEPo4 Batteries? by Papa3[_2_]
Most of the folks (myself included) who have switched to the LIFEPo4 seem to be using the K2 Energy 12V/10ah with included BMS based on what I see at the charging station at contests. Today, a club member showed me a competing product from StarkPower which is a 12V/12ah including BMS that's about...

OAT on LX-7000 by C-FFKQ (42)
Probably a dumb question... and I think I know the answer... but... May I cut the OAT wires and insert a two-pin connector so that I may place the OAT sensor in a good location in my ship and still easily remove the panel? Looking at the schematics, it's just 2 wires leading to the sensor, so I...

Momentary GPS data dropouts with PowerFLARM to SN10A to Oudie2 setup by kirk.stant
I made a couple of flights yesterday with a new setup that links a PowerFLARM brick (2.79/3.1/Flarmnet loaded) to an SN10B (2.37, PDA, FLARM, 19200 selected) passing Flarm, GPS, and vario data to an Oudie2. All worked exactly as expected EXCEPT that randomly during flight, at irregular intervals,...

Flarm Butterfly display by [email protected]
Installed the core and 57mm butterfly display today. Upgrade to 2.79 went smooth. Tried to upgrade the butterfly display to 3.01 from the core. Negative on the butterfly upgrade. The release notes say it does update from the core. I could not find any special procedures. The website says version...

PowerFLARM Transponder Alert Size by John Carlyle
Does anyone know the PowerFLARM transponder ADS-B and PCAS default alert size? This would be analogous to the Zaon MRX settings, like 5 mile radius with an altitude of +/- 2000 feet, inside of which it sounds a warning. I haven’t found a way to set the alert size in PowerFLARM, just the maximum...

Another EE question - - grounding by [email protected]
Using three batteries, I have three "-" battery wires running to a negative terminal strip all "jumped on the terminal input side. Is it also best to ground the "-" terminal strip to the largest metal mass in the glider such as the elevator/aileron yoke? Thanks. Ben

lx7007c logger query by [email protected]
I've just started flying with a new lx7007c and noyiced that in all the flights on See You the glider symbol is constantly pointing north. This looks very strange as it appears the glider is, at times, flying backwards! On inspecting the IGC log file I see that there is no heading information...

Ipaq 4700 question by Nick Kennedy
Hi Gents I left my ipaq 4700 unplugged for a couple of years and now it seems to be really dead. I plugged it in for a couple of days and hit the soft reset, nothing, no light at the top. Is there anyway to revive this little guy? Nick Kennedy

Gliderport below IFR arrival route into Newark? by Helge_Zembold
Hi everyone, apporaching Newark (KEWR) yesterday on the FLOSI2-arrival, I noticed an airfield with at least ten gliders aligned close to the runway just in the vicinity of point CRANK (N41°25.00'W074°23.33'), which we crossed in 6000 ft. Google maps did not help me much, I also could not find any...

Looking for video of glider spinning in wind tunnel by Nyal Williams[_2_]
A couple of years ago there was a video of a V-tailed glider spinning in a vertical wind tunnel. I believe this was of French origin. The model had about a six ft wingspan; the tester simply tossed into the wind tunnel in the spinning position and this could be maintained indefinitely. I cannot...

Littlefield, Tx Glider Crash by LongJourney
I just found out about a double fatality K7 crash in Littlefield, Tx about a month ago. How did this go unnoticed? http://lubbockonline.com/local-news/2013-04-01/feds-investigating-fatal-glider-crash-littlefield#.UYHLf0qcPTo Apparently, one wing snapped off after releasing from tow.

GRob 103 TwinII Acro rear canopy by Soarin Again[_2_]
Any leads on getting new plexiglass for a Grob 103 TwinII Acro rear canopy. Yesterday a club member had one come open and shatter in flight. The frame is basically ok but they need the plexiglass. Any info on how anyone else came up with a replacment canopy would be appreciated.
