Hidden costs of ethenol by
cavelamb himself
I am remimded of a quote that said, "when otherwise intelligent people
do stupid stuff, there is usually politics involved".
So not only do we pay more for less power in out auto fuel...

Jim Weir or other qualified persons: a tangent on the 2 radio 1 antennathread by
Dave S
Something about the thread, regarding transmitting power from one radio
being funnelled into the other radio made me take pause. In the Houston
area (and I'm sure most other major cities) there is an antenna farm
that has a collection of FM, AM and TV broadcast antennae. I would
estimate there are...

Looking for out of service main rotor blades for testing new rotor by
Wright1902Glider
Have you tried contacting one of the commercial companies like Petroleum
Helicopters or Air Logistics? Both of them are located in (or near) Lafayette,
LA. If the blades from a Bell 206 would be of use to you, they might be able
to help. Otherwise, you might also try Barnstormers.com...

U shaped wings
Some time ago there was a magazine cover showing a twin engine aircraft
with a U shape in each wing. The U's curved downward then up again with
engines and props within the U.
When did that occur and what magazine was that; anyone know? A vague memory...

How does a Maule tester work? by
Michael Horowitz
I have heard folks talk about a Maule fabric tester, but I have never
seen one in action. Apparently it puts a set amount of pressure
against fabric and if the rod goes thru, then the fabric fails.
Can someone please describe the action - especially, how does the
device keep the fabric from being...

Peltor headset wiring by
jan olieslagers[_2_]
I recently acquired a couple of Peltor 8003 headsets secondhand. They
have two stereo jacks. These are molded on so I cannot open them up to
see what happens inside.
I took the quarter-inch to be stereo, but no: I measured some 290 ohms
from tip to ground, and nothing between ring and ground....

Dual airspeed instruments questions by

Does anyone know how one would install two separate airspeed indicators? I
suspect one would need a separate pitot tube systems. Is this correct?
Also, how does one go about correcting an error (either too fast or slow) in
the indicator. I'm 2/3 done with the fuselage of my Zenith Zodiac 601XL...

Vacuum Gyro Question by
Jim Carriere
This is one of those questions where there must be a simple answer.
This is probably the forum to get the best explanation.
Why aren't vacuum driven gyro instruments driven by pressure instead?
The reason I'm wondering is because about 2" of suction is
sufficient to power a turn needle, and while...
