Ventus 2 compared to Discus besides the obvious by
[email protected]
I know the Ventus 2 is flapped and Discus is not. I am talking about ease of handling that the Discus is known for. Is the Ventus 2 with its wing design change similar to the Discus or more like its predecessor to fly. The Ventus A/B do not receive the greatest reviews for pleasure flying. What...

Oxygen system in ASW-27 ASG-29 by
[email protected]
Recently acquired an ASG-29 (ASW-27-18)and unable to mount O2 regulator on bottle behind seat back. Not enough room with seat back in aft position. How have other 27/29 owners solved this problem? Flex high pressure line? If so, where was it purchased?
Thanks

ILEC File Transfer with Pocket PC by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I have just completed testing of a method for uploading waypoint databases
and downloading flight logs from an ILEC SN-10 to a Pocket PC. Details are
found on my ILEC page: http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/ilec.htm
It worked great. It is easy for a Pocket PC power user like me but may or
may...

Cobra bottle jack failure by
db_sonic
I had a failed jack that I took apart to see why it was not
maintaining the extended position. In my case the ramp would slowly
lower back to collapsed postition, which besides annoying, can be a
danger to the fuselage. Turns out that it was the synthetic plunger
on the main piston leaking. So...

Glider books or movies? by
vic20owner
Are there any good stories (books & movies, fiction or nonfiction)
which include a lot of glider flying?
A book about cross country gliding would be perfect... a documentary,
etc.
Thanks

Towing with a VW by
[email protected]
Hello,
What are peoples opinions regarding towing a Russia AC4C with an
aluminum skinned trailer with a VW diesel beetle? The diesel engine
has plenty of torque. I have have towed my boat which is 1200 lbs
with the trailer and I have not had any problems. I would be towing
quite far on the...

Tow Vehicle Woes by

The discussion on tow vehicles hits home. I have to replace the
trusty Accord with something that has a beefier hitch attachment
point.
I've managed to rip the hitch off from the bottom of the trunk twice
now.
Car: 2000 Honda Accord V6 sedan, 201,000 miles.
Trailer: 2006 Swan, with fiberglass...

European License by

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a European pilot's license based
on a US license?
If so, what does it take? Is there only paperwork, or is a checkride
involved?

Drum dia and torque by
Bob Johnson
Reducing the drum size has more effect on torque than I realized. My
spreadsheet shows 953 lb-ft for 48", 242 lb-ft for 36" and only 85 lb-ft for
24".
What do you think?

First timer wants soaring description by
TravelMan
I'll be taking my first glider ride this week (not soaring, just
gliding) and was wanting a description of what to expect. I've never
flown in anything but a passenger jet, so that's my only frame of
reference. We'll be using an ASK 21 model. I've been told gliding is
like floating down with no...
