Flight 77 question? by Garyurbach
OK, trying a new heading, just in case: I am debating online with somebody who claims the descending turn of the Boeing 757 over the DC mall was some aerobatic maneuver. I am betting a 757 can do that without unduly stressing the plane, in emergency conditions. He turned 270 degrees in 2.5...

Wargame Realism by Eric Moore
In the article at: http://www.belmontclub.blogspot.com/2004_05_01_belmontclub_archive.html#108574381344809028 The desire is expressed for a game that simulates "The fog of bull$#it" in modern combat ops. Is there any game out there that even comes close?

Red line by Emilio
Time to time I come across fighter aircraft instrument panel photographic images and find no red line limit on the airspeed indicator. What is the policy and who puts the red line on the airspeed indicator? Do red line speed change depending on aircraft loading? Do they rub it off for...

B-25 question... by Jim Doyle
Bit of a simple question this, but I came across a B-25 picture posted in a.b.p.a. (Briefing Time Read PA MAAM). It shows the raised panel ahead of the cockpit common to all (?) B-25s... I wondered if anyone could explain what it's function was. Is that armour to protect the crew, and if so was...

Attn: Ed Rasimus by Billy Beck
Ed, I hate to do this in the group, but I do wonder if you might check on a "temporarily over quota" message bouncing back from your e-mail address. I actually answered you about a month ago, but that one bounced. I just sent a note out on something that I thought might interest you, and that...

A D Day Reflection Revisited by Dudley Henriques
I don't post much around here any more, but I thought I'd drop by just long enough to share these thoughts with those of you who might appreciate them. Departing from the aviation scene for just a moment, I would like to again share with you a reflection about D Day that I posted last year about...

Allied Air launched rockets of ww2 by Prowlus
Does anyone know why the allies didn't consider using their air lauched rockets as air-to-air weapons during the war when the jets started appearing? I thought it would have been a good idea to ward off any attack from ME-262s or me-163s which were too fast to attack with guns.

Location of B-1A Number One Prototype (s/n 74-158)? by Martin
Does anyone know the current location of the first B-1A prototype (s/n 74-158)? I have information that it is located either at Rome Research Site in New York, at the Edwards Air Force base museum, or dismantled. Does anyone absolutely know where B-1A No. 1 (74-158) currently is? Thanks, Martin

So much for the Eurofighter... by Thomas J. Paladino Jr.
http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=614292004 Seems the British are going to sell off a lot of these 'super' planes before they even enter service with the RAF. I suppose that if the program hasn't been cancelled yet, it never will be... but still, it's pretty funny. By the way, is...

Canadian FAA Corsairs - August 1945 by William Burns
I am trying to find identify the fuselage "coding" on Lt. Gerald A. Anderson's Corsair IV. All I know for sure is that his aircraft's registration number was "KD546" from HMS Formidable's 1845 Squadron. Lt. Anderson, who came from Trenton Ontario, was killed on August 9, 1945 when he crashed into...

Question about the APG-77 by Scott Ferrin
In the latest AW&ST it mentions the F-22's radar as having a range of "over 100 miles" and implies that it's greater than the F-15's. I recall reading MANY times in the 80's of the Eagle's radar being more like 150 miles and the Tomcat's nearly 200. I've also read that the ASG-18 in the YF-12...
