King KMA 20 TSO Audio Input by tony roberts
Continuing the ongoing saga of my avionics repairs, I took my plane away from the shop - they broke my ADF and I have now bought a King KR 86 ADF which someone else is installing. Right now we are stalled though as he doesn't have a schematic for my King KMA 20 TSO audio panel and we need either a...

http://tinyurl.com/24og9o Read about the bewildering details of a number of long-suffering non-resident pilots who have been caught in the FL tax trap, (otherwise known as the "Florida Landing Fee"). It starts like this... you buy a new or used aircraft and sign the bill of sale... which starts...

Which Ultralight to build..... by WC
OK, was planning on building a Texas Parasol (as you've probably seen from my previous posts) but it's looking like it may not be a very good design for a legal 103. That being the case, what design to build. I spent a good part of my life as a mechanic, can weld steel and aluminum (stick, mig,...

Leon Davis DA-11 by Rob Fonhof
Hi All. Just a quick one. Was watching discovery and saw a few aircraft including the Cri-cri and a DA-11. Both are very small and look like great fun. My main point of interest is the DA-11. It is a small single seater, with a cylindrical fuselage, and would you believe a Briggs and Stratton 2...

RF interference issue again (esp. for E Drucker and Jim Weir and other RF wizards) by Snowbird
OK, we're still having our RF interference problem and our avionics guy pleads 'stumped'. Meanwhile we're going nuts whenever we need to get radar vectors for the ILS at our local Class D or when we depart IFR to the SE. Here is what we know 1) the problem is intermittant. occurs both at night...

Looking for propeller Flange information by Guy Deraspe
Is there a web site or a book on "Everything you want to know on aircraft engine-propeller flange"? I have done some searches on the web, but I always get to specific propeller or engine model. They state Standard SAE #1, #2, ... modified... Lycoming bolt pattern... Continental Bolt pattern ......

Aircraft Spruce Rant by Doug Palmer
I have now been working on my project almost ten years and generally Aircraft Spruce and Specialty has been the benefactor. Their website now states that orders placed before 3:00 PM will ship the same day. This is bull****. I ordered two gallons of UV smooth prime on Saturday and for some...

O-200 Crankshaft STC for the C85 Continental ---- How's It Going? by jls
We are about to buy a couple of them if the history is good. Anybody know of any glitches with the modified engine? The STC is $350 and was originated by Don Swords of Don's Dream Machines in Griffin, GA. You install an O-200 crankshaft, O-200 rods, and O-200 pistons in a C85, for a total cost...

A Call to Arms from Richard VanGrunsven by Jim Logajan
The FAA is about to make it a whole hell of a lot harder for people to build safe amateur built aircraft. Richard VanGrunsven, founder of one of the most successful kit aircraft companies, has written up a warning and a call to arms about the issue. You can read it beginning on page 3 of this...

I Hate Radios by Ron Wanttaja
When I finally invent a time machine, I'm going to grab a baseball bat and then go back about 100 years. Mr. Marconi had better watch his step. After nine years of owning Moonraker, the biggest sources of heartburn has been fighting the radios. When I bought the plane, it mounted a Narco Escort...

Building an electronic Angle of Attack indicator by Mike[_27_]
Has anyone built an electronic angle of attack meter kit. It seems to be something that would be easy to design but beyond my feeble electronics background. I have seen the products that are out there and they are simple differential pressure gauges and are expensive. I don't like the round...

Lawrance 5 Cyl. Mini-Radial Engines by Victor Bravo
I have a couple of Lawrance 5 cylinder mini radials. They were used as the APU electrical generator engine for the B-29 bomber, and perhaps for other ground power applications. They're about 24-30 inches in diameter, and weigh 60 or 80 pounds approx. They are cute as hell, and look like half size...

What about putting aluminum foil on your antenna? by John Wier
Doesn't putting aluminum foil on your TV's antenna (rabbit ears) help reception by catching more rays? So in a composite airplane, with the antenna inside the fuselage, what about putting some foil on it to catch radio rays better?
