AC-130 Replacement Contemplated by
sid
After having been excoriated for saying that civil designs such as
those envisioned for the MC2A and ACS have no business over the
battlefield, this article gives me a bit of gratification:

B-17's and Strategic Bombing (Was:Was D VII a good plane) by
WalterM140
BTW trying to having a debate with Walt M140 is about as
entertaining as talking to a concrete wall :-)
Are you -ever- going to apologize for saying that Martin Caidin fabricated the
story of the B-17 that survived a head on collision with an FW-190?
Should I post the serial number of that...

Captured A/C Shootdown? by
Krztalizer
For example the Germans captured many Allied aircraft and test flew and
demonstrated them in their own markings. Were any ever shot down?
A P-61 shot down a Luftwaffe-flown KG 200 B-17 in early 1945. It had been
involved in dropping German agents in American uniforms. The "Böing" was...

Eurofighter Costs by
John Cook
Hi all
I came across a news item on
http://www.airpower.at/greymatter/archives/00000049.htm
It has a breakdown of the cost to the Austrian government for 18
Eurofighter typhoon, so we can get an accurate price of an export jet.
I have translated the main part from German as:-

On this day in 1944.. by
ArtKramr
On this day in 1944 the Germans began shelling theWirtz-Bastogne crossroad in
an attempt to push the 101st Airborne out of the defense of Bastogne. They
failed. .Temperature went down to below freezing in the bitter cold of that
Belgian winter and the 101st was down to eating K rations. Those...

RB-47H info needed for model by
Matt Wiser
Can anyone help with info and/or pics of an RB-47H? I'm building the 1/144
Hobbycraft RB-47H and am planning on custom decals for a/c
53-4305. The timeframe would be circa June-July 1957, when the aircraft was
assigned to the 343rd SRS, 55th SRW at Forbes AFB, KS. I have a friend from
college who...

Sub Hunter story. by
Ed Majden
I just received the North Island Weekender, newspaper North Vancouver
Island, and it contains a story honouring a 82 year young WWII Veteran,
former RCAF pilot Ken Moore, recognized for helping sink two German
submarines within 22 minutes on June 7, 1944 in a B24 Liberator. He was
with 224...

Washington Post on Casualties by
D. Strang
Is it just me, or was anyone else steaming over the button-pushing piece
by Paula Spann? What a crock. The father who lost his son, who now
thinks his life was wasted?? What the hell was he thinking his son did?
I'd like to walk up to him, and knock on his head to see if it is hollow.

747 Cruise Missile/JDAM carrier? by
David E. Powell
So.... if the USAF needed quick bombers, of the heavy kind....
Could this work? Wing racks might be doable.... I am not sure about putting
in a bomb bay, though doing it ahead and aft of the wing and gear cluster
might be doable.
