Idea for Jay by
Mike O'Malley
Jay, got a question- is your hotel's roof visible from the traffic pattern?
I only ask because I just remembered a place we used to fly over every day when
towing banners, they'd put a sign up on their roof for all (pilots) to read:

3rd Class Medical in Florida Question… by
Bob
I recently started by Private Pilot training in Daytona Beach and love
it. I actually never thought I would do as well as I'm doing and my
instructor is hounding me about getting my medical as he things I
should be read to solo very soon.
First I'll admit it, I HATE DOCTORS!… What all is...

It looks like we have enough people signed up to get
the next session of the IFR ground school started.
We will begin on Tuesday, November 11. Classes will be held
each Tuesday evening starting at 7 PM. The length of the
classes will vary slightly depending on the subjects to
be taught, but will...

Mike Z.
Having just purchased a 1976 Skyhawk, I would like to buy service and parts manuals for both the airframe and the 0-320.
What is the cheapest practical way to find these books.

Closed ATC center in SoCal? by
Mxsmanic
Can someone here explain exactly what had to be closed or evacuated in
Southern California because of fires? The news talked about disruptions
of air traffic throughout the Pacific Southwest and a major ATC center
being put out of order, but no more detail that that. Which ATC center
was it, and...

Checkride Today by
Z Sten
Hello all,
Well, after 7 months and exactly 51 hours of student air time, I passed
my SEL Checkride this morning. I spent nearly two hours last week doing
the oral portion, but opted out of the air portion due to excessively
high winds. But today dawned absolutely clear and cool with serenely
calm...

How up-to-date is the FAA Airmen Registry? by
Ekim
Go to http://registry.faa.gov/airmen.asp
and click on "Interactive Airmen Inquiry Web Site".
How current is the airmen database?
If the FAA issues a new certificate sometime today, Does the website
show it immediately? The next day? Within a week?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Realistic route from Caldwell in New Jersey to Islip by
John Davis
Hello All,
Not sure if this is the proper forum to ask this question, but I will
give it a shot. I have FS2002 and love to fly it as realistically as
possible. I was wondering if any of you can give me a real world route
for flying VFR from Caldwell airport in New Jersey to Islip airport on
long...

Excel Worksheet and Chart by
Paul
I'm currently working at creating an Excel file on my Palm that would allow
me to easily calculate the distances for take off and landing on my 172 for
every situation...
Does anyone of you use this kind of file (with a chart) for the "weight and
balance"? Would it be possible to have a copy or an...

IFR training, figure B by
Hannibal
Hi guys
I am looking for a diagram used in Europe an in other parts of the
world(altough is not very used in the US) that is used to teach
aircraft control during the initial phases of IFR training. Basically
the idea of this is to fly the airplane with different heading,
altitudes and speeds as...

Shadin flowmeter problems - anyone else sees this? by
Bill Zaleski
I have used a Microflo for 4000 hours now. I have found that unless
you leave power on for about one minute after setting FOB, the gal
remaining, or the fuel used, I can't remember which, will not be
correct. Yes, it is EEPROM memory, and does not need power to hold
data, but seems to need power...

Michael 182
Was flying in the Denver area today and approach told a plane that FL 180
was unavailable die to low altimeter, which was 28.87 at the time. What is
the reason for this? Confusion with 29.92 readings?
Thanks,
Michael

Kansas City Save-a-Connie Museum worth it? by
Jay Honeck
We've got Wednesday off, and so do the kids. We're looking for a day trip
to a good museum somewhere in the MidWest.
One option is Oshkosh -- always a great time. The other option we're
looking at is the Downtown Kansas City airport's Save-A-Connie museum, also
known as the Airline History...

Permit me a moment, please, to say... by
Robert Perkins
WOW!
Flying is just SO cool!
I took another Mount St. Helens flight Saturday at noontime. It's a
favorite around here with the folks who want to ride in a plane; first
choice.
So the route of flight was relatively pedestrian, since I've done it a
few times already, weather was pretty good, a...

Shadin flowmeter problems - anyone else sees this? by
Steve Beaver
Just a guess but EEPROM can be very slow indeed. Depending on the exact part
number, it may not even be possible to change a single location in the chip.
This means that you have to read the entire contents (or a large part) of
the chip, change the value you need to update and then write it all...

FAA Knowledge test by
Dave
Passed the Private pilot Knowledge test today. Been flying in the US on the
basis of my foreign licence for the last couple of years.
I decided that I ought to show willing and show I have the knowledge too.
Probably go the whole way next time in the US and do the three hours of
training before...
