President makes airspace vulnerable to terrorists by
Mxsmanic
Now that the President has cluelessly shut down Loran, it'll be even easier
for the bad guys to crash planes by jamming or spoofing GPS:

President of our local EAA chapter killed in inaugural flight by
Peter R.
Yesterday (Saturday) the president of our local EAA chapter here in Central
NY (USA) and a passenger were killed during the first takeoff of their
just-completed Lancair Legacy aircraft. Sadly they had invited family and
friends to witness this first flight.
According to the news article, the...

Presidential TFR @ Kill Devil Hills by
Richard Russell
Does anyone else find it ironic that the President's very presence at
the celebration of 100 years of powered flight has shut down almost
2,000 square miles of airspace? Couldn't he have phoned it in?

Presidential TFR Buffalo, NY 4/20 by
Buff5200
Just found out President "W" is coming to Buffalo, NY next Tuesday 4/20.
No further details yet.
Now two questions:
First, do presidential TFR's automatically include Canadian airspace?
Bush may be visiting within a couple hundred yards of the Canadian
boarder/airspace.

Presidential TFRs by
G.R. Patterson III
Well, with the usual application of logic by the SS, I guess we can expect the
TFRs to increase to 60nm radius. They'll probably cancel the ADIZ relaxation
test too.

Presidential TFRs -- AUGH! by
Jay Honeck
Sure -- the ONE time in my life I want to fly to Superior, WI, in the middle
of absolutely no where Wisconsin, to visit the Bong Museum (BOTH kids are at
camp -- heh, heh) -- and the President of the United States chooses TODAY to
visit Duluth, MN.
Right across the bridge from Superior...

Presidewnt reagan's Missing Man Formation by
tony
Former President Reagan's sunset burial had a dissonant note for me. The Navy
flew a missing man formation over the site, and as is traditional the second
element lead position (the airplane that would have been represented by your
ring finger tip as they flew in finger tip formation) left its...

Pressure Altitude or Density Altitude by
john smith
I am becoming confused by everything I am reading.
When I set cruise power, do I set the MP and RPM for the pressure
altitude I am cruising at?
Or do I set it for the calculated density altitude?
Or, does density altitude only affect mixture/leaning?
I know full throttle (MP) altitude is affected...

Pressure system over oceanic regions by
Andrew Sarangan
Looking at the worldwide surface analysis chart, it looks like land
areas have far more pressure variations than oceans. However, I am not
sure if this is a real effect or simply an artifact of the fact that
there aren't many observation stations on the oceans. Any thoughts?
Here is an...

Pretty cool flying day by
ShawnD2112
Today was a better day than I'd thought it would be when I got up. Weather
was worth going to the airport for so I pitched up there and then flew down
to another little airport to have lunch with a mate of mine. He didn't show
so I fell into conversation with a guy I'd met there last weekend. He...

Price Drop in Garmin Portables by
Marco Leon
The 496 is now down to $2,395 for many stores. Since the vendors need an OK
from Garmin to do this, it may mean a new one on the horizon... Anyone know
more info?

Price gap between 100LL and autogas by
M
Currently the price gap between 100LL and 87 unleaded, on a national
average basis, is approximately $1.50, give and take. That's quite a
bit higher than say 1997, I remember the gap was definitely below $1.
The total consumption of 100LL will continue to drop in the years to
come, caused by high...

Does anyone know if there is an FBO at SDL that does not charge the $50
ramp fee! This is getting crazy. They must be trying to scare off the
piston crowd.
