Left Coast Oshkosh Convoy by
RST Engineering
So far it is the Allison/Weir convoy from Kallyfornya to Oshkosh via Iowa
City. Anybody else thinking about it?
I'm departing Grass Valley at first light on Friday the 22nd. First gas
stop is Wells NV, then Rawlins WY. Depending on lumpies and bumpies,
Rawlins MAY be the overnight, or I MAY...

Airports around Framingham MA by
[email protected]
Hi all,
i may have a chance to move to Framingham MA and curious about a place
to park my old Bonanza.
Any good airports with hangar space available?
How does Mass deal with general aviation, is it friendly?
Thanks

Piper Aztec - Purchase Advice by
Bongo
I'm looking at purchasing an early (1960) Piper Aztec. I would like to know
what should be checked and what the real gotchas are on this age of
aircraft.
Thanks,
Dean

RAP & RAH Oshkosh field frequency by
RST Engineering
I think we could coexist with Vette on 123.3 with handhelds on the field
during Oshkosh, but I just did a fairly detailed search for 123.5 and found
no takers within twenty miles.
THEREFORE, let's make that rah/rap on field coordination frequency 123.5 and
don't give your kids the transceiver to...

prop seal by
Jim Burns
Well, after only putting 12 hours on our Aztec since our annual, we've got a
bad prop seal on our left prop. The prop shop is overbooked until OSH is
over, so we've got it scheduled to go in Aug. 3. (One side benefit is that
while the prop is gone we'll have time to put in our new side windows!...

Cherokee Strut Lower Strut Seal Replacement Report by
Mike Spera
Well, did my first seal swap on the 140 on all 3 legs. Took me and the
wrench about 5 hours total. Completely slimy, dirty job. Remember, I
worked in my father's body shop as a younger man, so I am no stranger to
being filthy. This was worse. Being dirty WITH oil/grease involved is
way worse than...

Pool party weather update? by
Montblack
How's the flying weather for your pool party looking? Noon on Saturday. All
directions?
Reason I ask is, I was just over at Golden Wings Museum this morning to pick
up any extra cargo they need hauled over to OSH. They have things set out on
folding tables for each plane.
The gang had just gone...

A Glass Panel for my old airplane? by
Brenor Brophy
Well my 1980 Skylane might not be exactly old by airplane standards, but its
panel is really showing its age. It has the original factory installed
avionics package, (Cessna ARC radios...).
I've been planning a major panel upgrade/replacement since I got the plane
two years ago. The current plan...

Accident db? by
[email protected]
When a title search is done, the company often offeres to provide a
history of accidents in which the a/c was involved.
Googling for 'FAA Accidents" I see what appears to be a wide range of
choices.
Anyone know which db contains the information showing what accidents a
specific a/c may have been...

Hummer vs Skylane by
Guy Byars
I just realized that my Skylane gets about the same gas mileage as a Hummer.
I burn about 13gal per hour and go about 130 knots... 10nm per gallon, or
11.5 miles per gallon. Now granted I am going in a straight line, and 3
times as fast, but still that is awful mileage. Now my old Cessna 140...

Garmin 430 error message: "com requires service"??? by
Guy Byars
I'm having trouble with the com in my Garmin 430. The audio reception was
getting scratchier and scratchier on it, then in the MSG screen, I get an
error like: "com requires service".
My local avionics guy says all he can do with it is ship it back to Garmin.
Anyone else had this problem?

Missing oil? by
Greg Copeland
I'm posting on behalf of my father. My father has been flying a friend's
older 172. The 172 was recently flown on a 8-hour round trip. During this
trip, the plan burned 3-quarts of oil. On return, a compression check was
performed. All came back with 75's or better. A check for
leaks did...

Pilatus P3 by

There is a very nice looking Pilatus P3 that has come on the market at
our local field, and I'm definitely tempted to look seriously at it.
After doing some online research on the P3, I've found some
information, but I was wondering if anyone out there could provide a
comparison of how a P3...

My Annual by
Charles Talleyrand
It would be interesting if other people would post what their annuals
have been like. I'll start.
I own a Cessna 150, which I have had for several years. This year my
annual ..
It seems some Cessna 150 owners have been finding cracks in the
vertical tail attach bracket. It's a piece of metal...
