Teterboro Info Request by
mtmueller
I flew in there once a couple years ago (before 9/11), and recall it used to
be quite easy. Has anything changed?
I recall hearing something about new fees being charged to GA. I can't find
any information from the Port Authority or the FBOs regarding what those
fees are, and how they are...

Questions about Privatizing ATC by
Jay Honeck
Okay, so the Bush Administration says it wants to privatize ATC services,
apparently saving the taxpayers millions (billions?) of dollars.
The controllers say "No way!", claiming that putting ATC into the hands of
private businesses will jeopardize air safety, etc.
G.A. pilots say "No way!"...

little XC & TLC this fall & winter, then next summer -- gone.
Jay -- save me a room (the Connie), and a beer. Maybe two.
Too cool.

Dear Ann Landers ... by
John Ousterhout
I'm a Pilot. I've met a woman that I'm very interested in. She has a
great personality and we have many common interests. I believe that
we could have a great future together. We seem compatible in every
way but one. I've been a Cessna pilot for many years. But she flies
a Piper low-wing. Is...

Approach Questions by
Cub Driver
I spent an afternoon waiting for a delayed plane at Logan in Boston,
and marveling at the very different landing techniques used by pilots
of similar or identical jetliners.
Later I remarked on this to an American Airlines pilot/neighbor. He
said: "Hey, we get bored too!"
all the best -- Dan...

Has he gone to the FAA and see if they can pull the radar plots up for
the time period and identify where the bird went (and landed)??

DFW disc jockey causes angst for morning commuters
An on-air stunt by a Dallas radio disc jockey Friday morning had some
people believing that the blackout in the Northeast had spread to

It hadn't, but a radio personality who goes by the "The Fitz" on the

Runway demolition at Meigs continues by
David Reinhart
The demolition of the runway at Meigs continued this morning, starting
at about 0630. I knew something was about to happen because the Alder
Planetarium camera has been off-line for a while. So long, Meigs.
We'll miss you.

Landing a warrior by
Dan Moos
I am a 130 hour PP, and the bulk of my time is in various cessnas (152s and
172's) I've always thought myself decent at landing
Until now. I've recently joined a flying club that has a c182 and a warrior.
My my last 20 or so hours are in the warrior. I bet I 've gotten as few as

"Enhanced Security" at various airports.... by
Dr. Anthony J. Lomenzo
Recently I've had to make various trips down south due to
my father's health. As he's 88 even a simple cold can and often does
turn into pneumonia, the bane of senior aged folks. And rather quickly.
Anyway, in my area, so-termed "enhanced security" is in effect. I
mention this because various of...

Lunch & Fuel recommendations - East Coast by
Bill
Try the CAVU Restaurant at Kobelt Airport N45, just WEST of POU.
New management and I've heard mixed reviews.. Some good, some not so good.
Right on the field, pull up next to the restaurant, park and walk 30 ft to
your table.
Have not been there in 32 years !

Odd EGT instrument? by
Ben Jackson
My new (to me!) Comanche has an odd EGT instrument. Across the top,
in blue, it is marked in "% Range" with 60, 70, 80, 90, * and below
that it's marked in white "Ex Temp x100 deg F" with -3, -2, -1 and *.
There's a tiny thumbwheel which can adjust it, though it doesn't have
a lot of...

C177RG (1971) by
Hilton
Hi,
Our club just put a 177RG (1971) on line. I have a bunch of 172RG time (and
Arrow and Duchess too). Apart from the wing further back, stabilator, slots
on the tail, and VGs, anything I should know about flying a Cardinal? I've
heard stories about tail-stalls on landing and porposing, but...

airliner parachutes and guns in the cockpit by
Jay Honeck
Why don't airliners have parachutes for
every passenger? Wouldn't the passengers
of the DC-10 that crashed in Sioux City, IA
have survived if they had been able to jump?
Hee hee!
Can't you just picture the passenger "bail-out!" light malfunctioning in
flight? :)

How much does a CFI make? by
Peter Gibbons
I know I will probably get alot of 'it depends' in response to this
question, but I guess I'm curious when a flight school charges a
student $25/hr for flight instruction, what chunk of that actually
goes to the CFI?
And realistically your average CFI is not flying all the time. Figure
in weather...

Best deal on renter's insurance? by
Evan Hunt
I'm getting back into flying after a few years away, and I've learned that
my FBO's insurance deductible has gone up a fair piece since then. Back
then I was willing to eat the deductible if something happened to the
plane, but it's too pricy now.
So I'm shopping. Who's got the best rate these...
