"Fantasy" Flight - Video by
A Lieberma[_2_]
Yesterday's "Fantasy" IFR flight from Bessemer AL back home to Madison
MS. KMBO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GMej00GrhE
Cumulus cloud bases were 5000 estimated to 8000 feet. My cruise
altitude was 6000. One has to admit, the view at 6000 was more
photogenic then Interstate 20 and...

"We're with the FAA" by
Chad
I've read lots of stories about it and if finally happened to me, I had
my first ramp check. I flew into South Haven, MI (LWA) today to get
fuel, it's self serve, and as I was fueling two men wearing ID's around
their necks and holding clipboards approached my plane. I couldn't
read what their...

'50s Cessna Door Handles by
Jim Weir
A couple of days ago, there was a thread in here about '59 C-175 door handles
being replaceable by '60 DeSoto or somesuch handles. I'd like to know where you
get 1960 automobile parts? It isn't like the junkyards are full of them, and
somebody somewhere has to make a universal replacement...

'58 Complementary Triumph TR3 Motorcar by
Jim Weir
My lady has just informed me that she would consider a complementary Triumph TR3
to our classic '58 Cessna 182 a good idea. She's willing to cash in her old
Chevy on the Triumph...oil leaks and all...for a TR-3 of that era.
Anybody got a lead on one of those old rascals?

Kobra
Flyers,
A friend of mine is an executor of an estate that is selling a pristine 1973
Piper Charger (PA28-235) for sale if anyone is thinking of buying. It has
a great useful load of 809 lbs. with full fuel or 1013 lbs. if you leave the
auxiliary tanks empty. Contact me for photos if...

'87D gets a makeover - 3 by
Dan Luke
The interior is finished. The work was done at Southern Avionics' new shop
at Mobile Downtown Airport.
http://tinyurl.com/gj5kt
It took 3-1/2 weeks and, according to their manager, went 90% over their
labor estimate. He is somewhat in shock about how long it took--it was
their first small...

'99-'00 172R vs 172SP: R is good? or the weak little brother? by
XrayYankee
Just doing some looking at the difference, or perceived differences between the earlier (1998, 1999, 2000) 172Rs and the 172SPs. And besides the extra kW rating of the same size engine to produce the 180hp (on the SP) over the 160hp (on the R), I can't find much else different. (with the...

'A' or 'B' generator circuit? by
jim
This is so embarrassing, I must just be getting old; I can't remember
if the generator in my '61 C-172 is an A or B circuit. Worse, I
forget which one is which. Does the 'A' supply controlled voltage
to the field and the 'B' does a controlled "ground out" of
voltage coming from the field or do I...

'continue' as used by tower controler by
Mike Noel
I was returning to my home base this morning and was cleared down to 4500'
from 5500' by Tucson approach (pattern altitude is 3400'). On the handoff
to the tower I called in and said I was 'through 5300'. The only words back
from the Tower were 'Cherokee 54405, continue'. This was the first time...

'Hot' cylinder after overhaul? by
Tony Cox
Since a major overhaul about 60 tach hours ago now,
I've noticed my #3 cylinder (O470R, 182) is running
consistently hot. It is typically 30-40 degrees warmer than
the average, which puts it at 4-bars in the EDM700
display. To keep this cylinder temp down, I'm having to
leave the cowl flaps open in...

'Renting' my plane. by
N93332
I have a '46 Ercoupe that can be flown under Sport Pilot rules. I have a
couple friends that are interested in 'renting' my plane. One is my cousin
who has ATP and CFI ratings and the other hasn't renewed his medical lately
so he'd like to fly it under the Sport. I have let my cousin borrow my...

(Grumble) Hangar rash by
C J Campbell
Or should I say flagpole rash. I just found out one of the line guys was
dragging my plane around with a tug and managed to snag the flagpole,
leaving a nice flagpole shaped dent in the leading edge of the left wing. I
told Mike to just tie the guy to the flagpole, and I will bring in some wood
to...
