weight of a .50-caliber round? by
Cub Driver
When a WWII aircraft fired off a fifty-caliber bullet from a Browning
M-2 mg, how much weight did it shed?
(That would of course include the weight of the powder and shell and
the links if any.)
Thanks!
all the best -- Dan Ford

Were the Tuskeegee Airmen Wrong? by
Stephen Harding
Saw the Tuskeegee Airmen movie earlier this week where
intermission had discussions with a couple fellows who
were members of the real thing. Quite interesting.
However, they mentioned the oft repeated accolade that
they never lost a bomber to enemy fighters that they
escorted. One reason,...

What a shock!!! Lockheed is over budget on the F-35 by
Mitch Benjamin
Lockheed Martin Corp.'s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is projected to cost $5.1
billion, or 17%, more than budgeted, forcing a one-year delay and a cut in
the number of planes produced, according to Pentagon documents.
And only two years into the program.

What about the AIM-54 Pheonix Missile? by
Flub
When the US Navy is going to retire all of its F-14 Tomcats, what will
happen with the feared long-range Pheonix missile? As I know, the F-14 is
the only frame that can carry this weapon. Or am I wrong? Will the Super
Hornet use the AIM-54? Or will they retire the AIM-54 also, as it has no
longer...

What Aircraft Is This? by
robert arndt
http://www.raravia.com/img/trivia0206.gif
Its on the trivia page of that site but not identified. Very strange
indeed. The main body and canopy look post WW2... but then there's the
fixed gear with twin boom tails on the ground. Pusher engine looks
unfamiliar too...
Anyone seen this thing...

What Argus Says about the As 014 by
robert arndt
http://www.luftarchiv.de/motoren/argus.htm
Please note that "Argus As 014 Staustrahltriebwerke" translates into
"Argus As 014 RAMJET"
And NO, a gas turbine is NOT closer to a RAMJET than a Pulsejet
because neither the Ramjet or its primitive form, the pulsejet have a
compressor or turbine. My...
