New Orleans Lakefront Airport by
Dan Luke
CNN video: NEW looks bad; partially under water. Heavy damage to most
buildings, particularly the large Millionaire FBO west of 18/36.
Wonder how long it will be before we make the $100 muffaletta trip to
Lakefront again--if indeed we ever do?

Hey Dudley, How did the T-Birds get started? by
Bob Chilcoat
Dudley,
My father (http://geocities.com/viewptmd/Dad.html) was a member (squadron
leader?) of the west coast precision aerobatic team that was a (the?)
forerunner of the Air Force Thunderbirds (apparently there was also an east
coast team as well - see http://geocities.com/viewptmd/Dad5.html). If...

Hurricane hunters? by
xerj
The site is down at the moment, but if I'm understanding it correctly, do
these guys actually penetrate hurricanes in P3s and Gulfstreams?
Do they go IMC flying into hurricane cloud???
If so, how the hell are they not constantly stalling as they are buffetted
by the turbulence? I'm pretty sure...

I was returning from taking my sister for an hour's ride (she never flew in
a small plane). I was on downwind for a T&G and there was a Navaho on the
runway - cleared for takeoff. I turn base and am watching..the navaho

Palm Springs FBOs and alternatives ? by
grubertm
I am planning a day trip to KPSP in a few weeks. Has anyone been there
recently ? Which FBO should I go with: Atlantic or Signature ? What are
the landing / tie-down fees ? Would it be better to land at Bermuda
Dunes and take a cab to downtown Palm Springs instead ?

More Katrina by
Dan Luke
Local Channel 5 is flying its Robinson 44 helicopter up and down the
coast, sending back video.
Holy ****.
This is far worse than we were being told even this morning. Whole
sections of Biloxi are leveled. Multi-story casinos have been driven
all the way across Hwy 90 and into neighborhoods. ...

How GA can help out after Katrina by

I've been working on organizing a few relief flights and have learned some
things. In spite of AOPA tell GA to stay out of the way, there is a big
need for transporting people around the disaster region. I think the point
is you need to stay out of the way of the rescue helos. Workers...
