Instrument Ground School in Northern NJ by
Andrew Gideon
A 13 week Instrument Rating ground school is starting at Caldwell Airport
(KCDW) on Feb 11. The class meets from 7p-10p on Wednesdays for 13 weeks.
The instructor is my old CFII, which is why I know about this; I'm posting
it as a favor.
The course is $250. The materials (the Jeppesen instrument...

Has anyone here ever flown into Encenada? I've flown to so many places
in Baja, I'm looking for someplace fresh. I've got the BBP book but was
curious if anyone on this list has any personal expiences.

CA use tax by
Robert M. Gary
I read somewhere that the use tax exemption for keeping your plane out
of state for 3 months is no longer in effect. Can anyone comment? Are
there still ways to avoid the 8% tax for out of state aircraft
purchases?

Coupled Landing by
Tech Support
Rode thru my first coupled landing last week at SFO.
737-800, Wx 100 ft & 1/8 mile forecast in Bay Area Fog.
I never saw ground before we touched down. Pilot said he only touched
controls after rolling down R/W and he went into reverse thrust with
engines.
Touch down was smoother than VFR Pilot...

IFR system question by
Dallas
Rookie question: Are there parts of the world that don't have IFR service
such as Africa and Siberia etc? If so, what does one do if you must fly and
IFR conditions prevail?

For Jay Honek by
Dudley Henriques
Hi Jay;
I'm going to try something here. It may work. It may not, but I'll give
it a go anyway just to see how you and the group in general react. If
this post illicit a bad response, I'll call it a day on this issue. If
it doesn't, I'll be glad to discuss it with those interested.
First of all,...

Aviation Job by

HYA FBO? by
Andrew Gideon
It looks like I'm going to be landing at HYA in the near future. Any
recommendation for an FBO? From AirNav, the choice appears between Air
Cape Cod and Griffen.
Any recommendations?
Also, what's the story behind that "call ops for escort" NOTAM?

100LL prices in New Jersey by
AJ
Someone asked for this I don't remember who, but if you're out there,
here it is:
Looking at the 21 airports in New Jersey that sell 100LL, the prices
range from $3.55/Gal. (Central Jersey Regional Airport - 47N) to
$7.22/Gal. (Teterboro Airport - KTEB). The average is $4.78/Gal.,
although the...

Radial/DME on Garmin 96 by
Danny Deger
I just got a Garmin 96 and am practicing how to use it on my arm chair.
Does anyone know an easy way to have it give radial/distance from a VOR? I
can easily get inbound course and distance, but would like radial instead.

ON TV -- aviation show. by

I saw in passing -- this Friday AM -- a really neat aviation show on
HDTV. I only caught glimpses -- they had John Travolta talking about
flying one of his jets, and Burt Rutan incl shoulder-perched parrot
talking about aerodynamics -- discussion about stalled airflow over an
airflow, aspect...

Developers eyeing one of my local fields by

For those who haven't been here, HFD isn't exactly a backwoods airport,
and is location of AOPA Expo 2007. Some local folks would like to close it:

Garmin 296 by
Newps
Speaking of the Garmin handhelds I am trying to put in a user waypoint
referenced off a VOR for a couple of Fire TFR's that will affect me
Thursday. It was simple in my 295 but now with the 296 the manual
doesn't say anything about it. Anybody know how to input a user input
that is a radial...

Väriä.. by
Jussi
Nyt kun on olevinaan muotia puhua maatamme jäytävästä ns.
"rahalahjustuksesta" niin yksi TABU loistaa majakkana. Ehkä on aika nostaa
myös näissä kissa kerältä ja ilman sen suurempia tarkoitushakuisia
disinformointeja tehdä näistä ihan asiallinen valtakunnallinen
tutkintapyyntö? Ehkä jokin...

New PA32 designations by
EDR
I spoke with the New Piper reps at the AOPA Expo, and asked them what
are the correct designations for the 6X and 6XT. This is what they told
me:
6X ... PA32-301FT
6XT ... PA32-301XTC
