Starting SeeYou by Tony[_5_]
I have been having a lot of trouble lately getting SeeYou to boot up on my computer. Naviter suggested I disable antivirus and try using SeeYou Cloud. They like to suggest the cloud. I prefer that the actual software just work, but I feel I am getting old fashioned. Has anyone else had trouble...

Who is the webmaster for SSF? by Tango Eight
This page http://www.soaringsafety.org/accidentprev/safetyarticles.html is full of broken links. And there's no contact info for a web master or other obvious go-to person. best, Evan Ludeman / T8

Artificial Horizon - Android or iPhone Bubble/Level App? by V1[_4_]
There are lots of bubble/level apps available for both Android and iPhone. I played with one on the ground (it combines a level and compass) including doing simulated steady state turns; it seems accurate and repeatable. I wondered if it could function as an artificial horizon in a pinch, like...

Making corrections to US Sectional Charts by Steve Koerner
Submitting corrections is quite easy. Just send a brief email to the address below stating the problem and the chart at issue. For us glider pilots, the most important problems on the charts are old airstrips which have become unlandable for one reason or another. When...

My SZD-55 (built 1990) had developed play in one aileron over the years. A powerpoint presentation with the relevant Flight Manual pages (allowable play), drawing of aileron system (Tech Svc Manual), and additional drawings and part numbers required to effect the fix, including the cause, and...

Cold Weather Clothing? by Karl Kunz[_2_]
This is an old thread I dug up - just wondering if there have been any improved products keeping one warm in wave that anyone is aware of? On Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 1:00:46 PM UTC-8, DGRTEK wrote: Other than my low tech thermal underwear or longjohns as I call them, can anyone recommend...

Books? by Entelin
It's winter here and I figure I should spend some of the time furthering my book knowledge of soaring. I fly XC and compete, but in hanggliders not sailplanes. I assume there are well regarded books from the sailplane perspective out there. I'm looking specifically for anything that gives me better...

Emergencies on aerotow by [email protected]
You cannot teach safety in paragraph-long sound bites. Unlike a high percentage of glider pilots, if you want to be a safe pilot, you need to educate yourself. How many launching emergencies are there? All pilots automatically think of rope breaks. Believe it or not, 41 emergencies are listed,...

FS: Gap Tape by Tom Johnson
40 Rolls of white gap tape for $45 Shipping paid to addresses in the USA. This tape is good for single day use. Put it on, fly, take it off. It is NOT as good as the $8 to $15 a roll tape, but for about $1.10 a roll it is a reasonable alternative.

SW developers: FLARM protocol version 6 reminder by Dave Nadler
I've emailed the folks developing products that display traffic from FLARM, for those I know, but for those I do not know, a quick reminder... Hi Guys, probably you know this already, but just in case... PowerFLARM defaults to the older FLARM protocol which does not include PCAS (transponder)...

LS-6A Questions by Jerz Rossignol
Hey guys, I am wondering if any of you know the size of the O-ring for the ballast connection that comes out of the wing of a LS-6A? Also, my front air vent keeps opening up just enough to create a very loud whistle when I get the glider going faster than 100 knots. It gets quite annoying to keep...

Hi, Does anyone know of a good radio repairer in the UK. We have a COMM ATR 720 radio and it has a couple of problems a) It has a combined microphone/loudspeaker. When the PTT is pressed a howling (feeback like) sound is made and nothing is transmitted. However, the receiver seems to work ok.
