Too much fun.. almost.. by
Steve R.
Wow, sounds like such a great day! Congrats Kevin! :-)
Isn't it wonderful when everything comes together? Ok, so you had a sloppy
one. The important part is that you reacted properly and didn't bend the
bird. It's all part of the learning experience.
Question: Maybe I'm reading you too...

Rain, rain, go away... by
PJ Hunt
Kev,
Just be glad you're not flying with an outfit in Riverside who wont fly in
the rain.
I was on my way to the flight school, an 1 hr and 45 min drive from my home
in Idyllwild, and it had been drizzling all morning long. As I was turning
in to the drive at the flight school my cell phone rings...

MD 500E anyone? by
JIM105
Hey Kevin,
Sounds like a great day. I'm assuming that Caltrans (or actually the
California Dept. of Aeronautics) came out and checked out the LZ prior to the
500 landing in the school? The state has a regulation prohibiting aircraft
landing within 1000 feet of a public or private school that has...

Did my aptitude tests and exams the other day. by
Simon Robbins
I did my aptitude tests and exams at my local flying college the other day,
a pre-requisite along with an interview before they allow you to join any of
their courses. Scored 85% in maths, 77% in physics (I'd long forgotten some
of the theorems and equations that would've been helpful) and I got...

What is the largest helicopter fying regularly? by
el gran cantinflas
I saw a CH-53 the other day in Yuma, AZ, the next day I saw a Chinook in
San Diego. Those are some BIG helicopters. Even bigger than I would
have thought. (And trust me, I've thought.)

First Full down Autorotation by
Hennie Roets
Hi to you all,
I did my first full down autorotation yesterday however it was not my

It was not so bad afterall. I was busy doing my renewal on a R22 Beta 2
We did a few auto's with the instructor cutting the throttle and me doing

Instructor with spikes by
Hennie Roets
Kevin's first solo made me think of my first solo in the heli back in 1997
I have been flying fix wing aircraft since 1980 and to go solo was not
unknown to me.
I was doing training on an Enstrom at the time and was doing quite well at
the time.
All the instruction was done by one instructor so...

Long flight today... by
Steve R.
Hi Kevin,
Great write up as usual!
You've been talking about hoping to go solo in the past couple of posts
you've made. I'd say you're almost there. This one sounds like the classic
"backslide" in skill level right before everything comes together. Don't
let it get you down!
Also, you may not...

Opinions wanted on UK integrated CPL(H) courses by
Simon Robbins
Hi,
Is there anyone out there who can recommend any UK integrated JAR CPL(H)
courses? I've checked out Cabair and the only other school set-up I know of
is Oxford Aviation Training who I've yet to check out in person. Currently
my options are to jump in with both feet, sell up and do a year...

First flight in R-22... by
Filip Zawadiak
.... and I still can't stop smiling :-))
Flying helicopter is soo different from an airplane, it really felt
like flying magic carpet :-) And it's so nice to watch grass waves
around :-) In airplane you get from ground so fast it's hard to notice
how nice view you can have from so low...

New Rotorhub Invention: by
Dave Jackson
The link http://www.SynchroLite.com/1377.html is to a web page that
describes a new style of rotorhub. This hub should offer significant
flight-control and aerodynamic advantages over existing rotorhubs. In
addition, it will be very inexpensive to build.
It should be of special interest to those...
