Responsive preventative maintenance by
Andrew Gideon
I'm not sure that the subject accurately portrays the topic about which I'm
asking, but I couldn't arrive at a better term.
The person that flew the club airplane before me reported a magneto problem
in the squawk book. When I tried to start the plane the next day, I found
it unwilling to start. ...

$5.8M for a King Air? by
Doug Vetter
Hi all,
Was just reading the King Air article in this month's Flying and saw the
price w/ the new avionics suite (why they went with Collins is beyond
me, but that's another story).
Just wondering if I'm the only one who did a double-take at the price.
$5.8M for a KING AIR? Jeez...if anyone had...

AD's for small aircraft engines--Spec. 0-470 series by
Dave Flatter
I have tried to get the current AD's for small airplane engines on the
MyPlane web site. When I click on the Small Airplane Engine AD link, it
leads to Large Airplane Engine AD's. Has anyone had the same problem? If
so, where else can one find the current AD's for the 0-470 series- as in
Cessna...

Rent a Cessna 180 or 185 by
Doug
I am interested in getting a checkout in a Cessna 180 or 185. It does
not have to be solo, with an instructor is fine. If anyone knows of
one, the closer to Colorado the better please email me at
Thank you

Club Membership: Getting for what one's wished by
Andrew Gideon
I posted this to the mailing list for the club to which
I belong, and I thought people here might appreciate it too.
When I joined the club a few months ago, a major motivation was to learn
more about the "operations" side of aircraft. To my mind, this meant
maintenance. As a renter, that side...

Fuel Flow Monitoring by
EDR
* This is an outgrowth of the hot starting fuel injection thread
For those of you who have JPI or EDI fuel flow monitoring:
a) how many flights did you make before it was "calibrated"?
b) how much variance do you see from flight to flight?
b1) do you fly approximately the same altitudes/power...

Looking for Bonanza N4252D by
Hayden McKaskle
I am trying to find my father's Beechcraft Bonanza, call sign N4252D.
Likely built late 50s / early 60s. He sold it ca. 1974 after developing
heart disease. Would love a picture. Please email.

Magneto Failure by
Chick Urick
Has anyone experienced both "P" leads in a D2000 shorting out against
the back of the case? It appears this may have happened in a C172
(1979) as there are arc marks at the connectors. Looks like a gasket
should have been install but none is there? Any comments appreciated.

Rare aircraft types photograhed by
Bob
I came across a photoguide to aircraft in the UK, it's not well advertised
so you may not have seen it. http://www.ukskies.co.uk. It's got hundreds
of aircraft types so it's worth a look.
Does anyone know of any other good sites?

Cost sharing revisited by
Roger Long
I started a thread about a week ago in which I passed on something I was
told by AOPA two or three times. You can be in violation of your private
pilot privileges if you make a flight solely to accommodate the needs of
your passenger, even if you accept no reimbursement for costs.
A number of...

GNC-300XL IFR GPS/COM by
Jeff P
Anyone have any experience with the GNC-300XL IFR GPS/COM?
Does it work well? Do you like the user interface? How is the
screen?
I want to have GPS IFR capability in my 172. What else will I have to
install to get IFR cert for this unit?
Thanks,

Fairings (and other gear speed mods) for AA1A,B,C by
Uncle Ron
I'm looking at potentially buying a TR2 or Lynx. Some I have seen
have no wheel pants and I'd like to have those. Gear cleanup (wheel
fairings and other mods) seem to have a very good effect on this type.
I can't find costs on the Web.
Anyone with an idea as to the cost of these additions? ...

Fuel Transfer Placards by
Ben Smith
Hello -
I'm starting to purchase parts one-by-one to build a mogas fuel transport
trailer, and noticed something about the pump, and filters.
The 12v Fill-Rite transfer pump I'm looking at has a tag on it that reads
something like: "Warning: Not for refueling of aircraft".
And, the spin on...

Cessna 150 Price Outlook by
Charles Talleyrand
Anyone want to guess the medium term price trends for a C-150?
By medium term I mean the next five-ish years.
My guess would be "more of the same" meaning increases of a few
percent a year with mild year-to-year variations.
The only effects I can see are whatever's left of the upward...

Cold Weather Flying by
Jose Vivanco
I live in Ottawa, Canada and this is my first winter as a PA-28-140 owner.
My airplane does have copper battery cables (cable ?) and an engine heater
but the previous owner warned me; in really cold weather, below (-10C/-23 F)
it won't start without a battery boost. The battery boost is in addition...

Rallye/Koliber AD's and opinions by
R. Wubben
Does anyone out there have any opinions about the PZL Koliber (the
later day reincarnation of the Rallye 150 ST)?
I've heard of an engine mount AD on the older Rallye's, but does it
apply to the newer Koliber's?
Any other thoughts or opinions on these aircraft? Anything else to
watch out...

RC Allen Gyros by
Paul
Sometime back I got tired of fighting Aircraft Quality Instruments trying to
get a Gyro Horizon that worked, so I purchased a new RC Allen Horizon. This
was April of 2002.
Guess what--- the horizon failed in flight last week. The warrantee was one
year. Upon removal, I found a part rattling around...
