Blanik tire problem by
Greg Arnold
The Blanik has a 350 x 135 tire. Apparently the company that used to
make an inner tube to fit this tire has stopped doing so. The local
Blanik operator has been told that the appropriate tube is 500 x 5.
In the last week, there have been 3 flat tires on the Blanik. Each
time, there was a 1-2"...

Basic Training Gliders by
Justin Craig
I am surprised to read Derek suggesting that there
is no successor to the K13. In my mind the ASK21 is
the perfect successor (probably the best, most robust
trainer available) !
They may lack spinning characteristics, but in my opinion
that is no big issue.

Replacement for a Cobra Tongue by
[email protected]
Hi everyone,
Upon my return home from Cordele I was shocked when I saw that the
tongue of the trailer had almost completely cracked off. Luckily I
noticed the crack while I was hooking up the trailer to tow the glider
from home to the airfield. The crack is just ahead of the hand...

Practical Wave Flying - Revised Edition by
son_of_flubber
I'm reading 'Practical Wave Flying - Revised Edition' by Mark Palmer Copyright 1989 That's 26 years old.
Is there anything considered out-of-date or outright wrong in this book? Are there new areas of relevant knowledge that are not touched upon by this book?
This is supplemental reading. ...

Hard to assemble glider by
HGXC[_2_]
Hi
I fly a older Ventus and my glider wings are difficult to slide tight to the glider for pinning.
I have a 1 pin set up and start with my left wing. I keep my brakes open and flap in 3.
I can line up the inserted arm fine and line up the controls but, once I get to a couple inches it bogs...

Battery Power by
Mike McCarron[_2_]
Help!
I have carefully measured my current draw in my glider at .8 amp. l would
like to know if there is any reasonable explanation for why a 9 amp hour
battery goes from 13 volts open circuit fully charged to 11.6 volts in 4
hours.

Delicious land out spot in Arkansas by
Spam
We are making this a turnpoint from our gliderclub in Arkansas. Only
46 nautical miles to the north of our club lies an old military
airport that does not have a control tower. Easy to get in, they do
have an FBO.
The best part???
An old Southwest Airlines 737 turned into a restaurant right on...

CV
Hello,
Considering to offer my glider up for rental during this season.
Can anyone here supply, or point me to a contract text for glider
rental that I could use as a model. Comments/things to keep in
mind when renting are welcome too.

Thermal Prediction for the Masses from April 1982 Soaring by
Papa3
Hi,
Does anyone have a copy of the above article scanned? It was by
Jerry Gibbs and provided a non-technical approach to understanding a
SkewTLogP chart. I had my own xeroxed copy (so 1980's), but I can't
find it right now.
TIA

inspection of FAA examiners, ahhhhhh, long by
Mark James Boyd
Mr. Eiler (I hope I have this right) had
asked about some of my conversations with some examiners and about
their supervision in an old post.
Someone had mentioned as well (maybe it was Mr. Eiler)
that one examiner hadn't had an exam check in 13 years, and
another examiner had a 100% pass rate for...
