Good book about the Southwest Pacific air war- Fire in the Sky, by Eric

description of a typical airstrip.

Re pilot training dropout percentage. by
QDurham
Face it. Dropout % is almost exclusively dependent on selection process. With
perfect selection requirements one would have near zero drop outs. When I went
through the NavCad program in the early 50s, one needed to pass a bunch of Navy
exams, be physically adequate, and have 2 years college in...

See prior post. I can't post replies so I do it this way.
The photos and planes are gorgeous! The P-39 even shows the traces of the
original us applied red star on white circle export markings that were
overpainted by the soviets.
Its a shame they could not have acquired the B-239 that is...

Rafael's AIM-AIR IR Missile Countermeasure by

Rafael is developing an IR guided missile countermeasure system called
AIM-AIR. It basically uses sensors to track any IR guided missiles
fired at an aircraft and it uses lasers to then burn the guidance head

weight of a .50-caliber round? by
Cub Driver
When a WWII aircraft fired off a fifty-caliber bullet from a Browning
M-2 mg, how much weight did it shed?
(That would of course include the weight of the powder and shell and
the links if any.)
Thanks!

Meaning/origin of Bravo Zulu by
morten lund
Hi all!
I've come across the phrase: Bravo Zulu a couple of times in this group, and
I'd like to know exactly what the phrase means, and if someone knows the
origin of the phrase.
My first guess would be that its connected to Adm. Zumwaldt in soe way?
cheers, Morten
