Aircraft Designations by
David Townend
The second printing of "Military Aircraft Designations and Systems" is still
available. We were out of print soon after our October 2002 printing so it
is good to have copies available again. We are also able to hold the
original price, too. Military Aircraft designations
catalogued from 1913 to...

Johnson Rocket Projects by
Orval Fairbairn
A friend has decided to sell his two Johnson Rocket 185 project aircraft.
One has been stripped down and the fuselage primed with epoxy and
painted. That plane needs a rebuilding of the cockpit area, as the
previous owner butchered that area in an attempt to make a homebuilt.
The other plane is...

Fiesler F 2 Tiger Plans? by
John[_9_]
I am interested in the Fiesler F 2 Tiger. This was a single seat
taper wing biplane powered by a Walter Pollux II 450 HP engine.
Gehard Fiesler used it in winning the first World Aerobatic
Championship in 1934. I have seen just a few photos of it and know
very little about it. I think that Elly...

Slow Flight, Stalls, and Spins Introduction by
w3n-a
http://w3n-a.blogspot.com/2008/11/introduction.html
The maintenance of lift and control of an airplane in flight requires
a certain minimum airspeed. This critical airspeed depends on certain
factors, such as gross weight, load factors, and existing density
altitude. The minimum speed below which...

Corsair Tailhook by
[email protected]
I'm thinking of trying to sell a tailhook from a WW II era F-4U
Corsair. Is this a good list to post on? If not could someone make a
suggestion where a good place to post would be? Obviously its a pretty
limited market but would like to see it so to someone who can really
use it. Thanks for your...

Spar Dimensions for J-3 and/or Aeronca Champ by
Ron Wanttaja
We've got some Fly Baby builders who are considering building the Hevle
Classic tandem Fly Baby. We're trying to work out what would be a good
thickness for the spruce spar. My thought was that comparing it to that of
a production plane would be a good start.
So, can anyone tell me the...

Navion Maintainance by
PiperSeneca@
Thank you for the excellent info on parts availabilty. On a similar
topic, are there any maintenance trouble spots on the older Navions?
I was told that the hydraulic system is leaky or troublesome. Is this
true, how bad a problem is it and are there any other areas of
concern?

The Great Pumpkin Flies! by
Orval Fairbairn[_2_]
I have been assisting a friend in restoring his #7 Johnson Rocket, aka
"The Great Pumpkin". It had the O-435-1 (O-435-C), with the MA4-SPA
carburetor. He had had the single-piece venturi installed when he bought
the plane.
It would cough and miss when power was reduced to 20" MP, making it...

you guys and gals see a benefit and would be interested in purchasing one
