Alternator Issue? by
Jon Kraus
Tell me what you think about this issue:
I flew 4443H ('79 Mooney 201) Saturday morning for a couple of hours.
One time during the flight, for about 5 minutes the High / Low voltage
light was flickering. It did stop flickering, the ammeter wasn't showing
a discharge, and the battery voltage...

LED Light Strips? by
JB
Has anyone put a set of LED strips under the glareshield? They are
usually 12v, dimmable, and relatively cheap. Our 79 Warrior has
crappy panel lighting and thought putting up a length of red LEDs
strips with some sticky tape and plugging in with cig/power adapter
would be an easy way to light up...

Cessna 210 fuel drip by
John Clonts
We have a 78 Centurion which has developed a fuel "drip" underneath,
from some kind of drain tube protruding from under the fuselage on the
left side, about 12-18" behind the nose wheel opening. I am trying to
figure out what this line is coming from or is for. It is not the
fuel strainer...

JPI Data Question by
Jim Burns
I'm studying the JPI data from my recent trip to Key West and back to
Wisconsin. One thing stands out.
A sudden drop of 60 degrees EGT and rise of 30 degrees CHT on one cylinder
while all other cylinders remain rock solid stable.
After an extended period of idling at KEYW waiting for a...

Thanks to all for some great thoughts/solutions.

More Skytec starter woes by
[email protected]
Hey all... I posted about a year ago about "residual engagement" on a Skytec
starter for my Cherokee 180. At that time, I discovered the poor way that they wired
it for certified aircraft use. Using the alternate wiring (for experimental only)
http://www.skytecair.com/Wiring_diag.htm, this...

Cost of Allison Rolls Royce 250 Engine by
Will
What is the cost of a Rolls Royce Allison 250 turbine engine, purchased new,
and are they generally available used? If yes, what is a typical price
discount?
Are there lower cost equivalents with smilar reliability either already
released or soon to be available?

Leaning to Hotest Cylinder by
O. Sami Saydjari
My understanding is that one should lean using the "hotest" cylinder as
the reference point for peak EGT. My question is on the interpretation
of "hotest." Does that mean the cylinder that reaches the hotest EGTs
or CHTs? On mine, they are inversely related (the hotest EGTs are on
the coldest...

Does Av-Blend work? by
tony roberts
Hi Peter
The aircraft that I purchased had a long history of sticking valves.
When I bought it I started adding Avblend and haven't had any problem.
I also lean aggressively on the ground and monitor engine in flight on
an EI monitor. So maybe any of those things could be responsible for my
good...

Newer aircraft mx issues by
SAC
Hello,
I have a question for owners of newer aircraft (5 years or less).
We have a '76 Lance that our club purchased about 9 years ago and it appears
to have been somewhat of a lemon then. I don't think much thought went into
the purchase but I think the price what right. Over the last several...

What is a Doyne Apache? by
JAX
I've seen some Apaches listed that are 'Doyne conversions' but I can't
find what the conversion involved, except maybe 180hp engines. I know
about Geronimos, but what exactly makes up a Doyne conversion Apache?

Cessna Turbo 310 Riley Rocket by
O. Sami Saydjari
Does anyone know anything about the "Riley Rocket" version of the Cessna
Turbo 310? I am getting claims of "260 KTAS at 20,000 feet burning only
24 gph total." Does that make sense? Seems a little too good to be
true. Does anyone have actual experience with a Riley Rocket that
matches this...

Airtex Interior Refurbish - Day 48 by
Mike Spera
Day 48 (The Seats)
Just completed the seats. Not as tough or as time consuming as I thought
it would be. Maybe 10 hours total time. As I said in the previous
installment, I reused the rear foam. The rear seat backs rolled back on
without a hitch. Minimal adjusting to get it to look just right. I...

- Why did you do it?
- How much did it cost (per...
