McCaully brake assembly by
Stew Hicks
I have McCauley brakes off an early Cessna 150 on My Zenith. One barrel is
cracked at the mounting guide hole. Anyone with a good barrel? Does anyone
know if any other brake type is inter changeable on the same mount without
modification?
Thanks In Advance

Rubber Band Powered Aircraft? by
COLIN LAMB
Ok, it would not be practical for a family flyer - but is anyone currently
experimenting with a rubber band powered aircraft? Any websites regarding
how much power is available, and for what duration?
I found some information on rubber band powered aircraft in the 1800's, but
few details. Seems...

OT Great Movie by
[email protected]
Anyone that creates things with their own hands needs to
go see The Worlds Fastest Indian.
Its the story of an older man from New Zealand that
had a dream to compete in the land speed records.
It's the best most up lifting movie I've seen in years.

"Do not file weld" by
Michael Horowitz
I know that if I scratch 4130 I set up a stress riser. I also know
that I can polish out the scratch.
Reading about welding, I see the warning not to file a weld, but under
at least one circumstance, I don't see the problem.
For example, I fill in a hole I'd previously drilled in a tube....

OT-Hawaii by

Slightly OT, but since this is the only group I frequent, here goes.
My wife and I are making our first trip to Hawaii for a much needed
vacation. I have always wanted to fly around Oahu and see Ford Island
and other areas by air. My intention is to get checked out in a 152 or
172 and sightsee...

7/8 Nieuport 11 flying qualities? by
Chris Wells
I'm considering a Nieuport 11 ultralight, and I was wondering if anyone here has flown one, or heard anything about how they fly. Will they fly hands off, or do you constantly have to stay on top of things? Are they easy to ground-loop?

1 Fatal ...r.a.h or r.a.p? by
Montblack
I sometimes cut-n-paste crash victim's names into Google.groups.rec.aviation
to see if that person has ever posted here. Too ghoulish?
One person's name, about 6 years ago, came up. IIRC, his family was in the
plane.
With the spate of recent crashes it got me wondering, again: People here...

My buddy went out and spent multi tens of thousands of dollars on an
airplane engine. Lycoming, I think it was. Seems kinda pricy, but I
understand that most of that cost is testing, no iron.

Second-hand kit purchase issues FL-TX by

I'm buying a second-hand GlaStar kit from Florida and I'm in Texas.
1. Does anyone know if there are sales tax or property tax implications
regarding the purchase? I am picking it up myself and hauling it to Texas.
2. Is there a standard "bill of sale" I can use for the purchase? EAA or
AOPA? -...

Would you pay money to see this plane? by
wright1902glider
For some time now, I've been thinking about building a replica of Ben
Epps' 1907 monoplane. For those of you not familiar with Georgia
aviation, this was the first plane built and flown in the state. Ben's
youngest son, Pat Epps, currently owns the big FBO at DeKalb-Peachtree
in Atlanta.
