Target Fixation by
[email protected]
Military pilots have known about this since World War 1. It happens
when a pilot gets so engrossed in destroying his target that he flies
right into it, can happen in air to air as well as air to ground
operations. Bombing ranges around the country are dotted with little
smoking hiles in the ground...

1983 Mooney Ad - N44SL by
Ken Harry
Just curious - I ran across an old ad in Sport Aviation
with a Mooney flying feathered prop, above an LS4 -
N44SL.
I'm curious who was the brave glider driver?

IGC - approved levels for some.... by
Stan Kochanowski
Says a lot for the 'Brotherhood of Glider Guiders'
that we should feel obliged to have to debate this
issue - let alone legislate for it - or for field-landing/competen
ce checks - or for instructors' health checks !
Or is it that I'm just getting old ?!

European cold snap by
Bill Daniels
It seems that late winter has been frigid in Europe.
See: http://www.esa.int/export/esaEO/SEM980P256E_index_1.html
One presumes discussions of global warming are at a low ebb.

DG 505 tail wheel hub failure? by
Alfonso Ossorio
Has anyone had a DG 505 tail wheel hub (plastic) blow
out? If so what do you think the cause was? Just one
side of the hub lost a fifth of the rim. The debate
seems to be side load in ground handling vs tail first
landing. The tube did not pop and there are no scars
on the other half. Any tips...

B40 by
[email protected]
I have installed a B40. Only while transmitting on my radio the B40
quickly reads +5 kts and then slowly decays back to zero. Is this
normal and can it be fixed? I tried replacing the power lead to the
vario with shielded wire connected to gnd at one end and this actually
made the problem...

Parachute-slighty off topic by
chipsoars
I have to help my daughter make a parachute for an egg drop at school.
Are there any guidelines on design, such as canopy size for a weight
one of you might be able to share or a handy link.
Somehow I think my Strong is overkill.

Neanderthat vs. Wuss Gate by
[email protected]
Let me tell you where I'm coming from on this gate issue. I was CD'ing
one of the Montague nationals and we were using the finish line. The
only practical location for the line was the edge of the X'ed-off
runway, but there were several competitors tied down there (read cars,
wives & kids) One of...

Hidden costs of owning a Glider by
Doug Snyder
I was prepared for the insurance, the hangar rent for the trailer, the
new relief system, etc.
I must admit that I was not prepared for the new solid surface counter
tops, the new diswasher, the new stove, and the new flooring.
Why didn't you all warn of the reciprocal spending by my spouse...
