I intend to buy a handheld. by almostthere
Just got my ticket and I plan to purchase a handheld Nav-Comm for back-up but it is said that they're useless at altitude without an external antenna connection. What connector do I use (BNC?) and how do I go about doing this on rented C172s? Any alternatives/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Liability for rental aircraft that's stolen by almostthere
I have AOPA's renter's insurance. Limits are to $60K for damage. The policy doesn't appear to cover theft, and certainly if it did, the theft of the rental aircraft that I fly would cause the owner a greater loss. He's covered, I'm sure, by his own policy but can his insurance carrier come after...

Downloading GPS track data and overlaying charts by Aloft
To help improve the precision of my flying, I'd like to overlay the GPS track of my flight on a chart so I can compare. Although I don't recall what the most 'usable' program is right now, my guess would be the OziExplorer. Yes, OziExplorer is perfect for this. The steps...

Anyone here ever landed in such a strong crosswind? Found this posted to another group. This is a great video of 747 and 777 doing auto land certification crosswind landings, the 3rd and 4th shot are the best. It takes a minute to download and get through the credits but its worth it. ...
