the return of the nuclear-powered aircraft by

looks like the USAF is considering jamming a reactor into one of their UAVS

Think they'll resurect the "glow-in-the-dark" brigade too?

Rolling Thunder by
Mortimer Schnerd, RN
Although I bought the book shortly after it was published (and had Ed autograph
it), I just got around to reading it. Outstanding read. I don't know why it
took me so long to get started on it, but it sure was hard to put down.

Where's my Purple Heart? by
Jack
I had a wound over my eyebrow which required six stitches while serving
in Viet Nam and I didn't get a purple heart.
I think the fact that Kerry's PH was issued in spite of the fact that
his lesser wound resulted from misemployment of his own weapon indicates
that I should have received the PH as...

Do the RAF really want the A400m? by

Just curious really, wouldn't going from a fast tactical jet transport
(c-17) to a slower prop transport be like swapping a stallion for a
mule to the RAF?

Don't you mean *couldn't*? I haven't heard the "official" word from any
"typewriter experts", but most people are saying the superscript in 111th
wasn't possible on typewriters of the early 70s.

Moffett Air Show 2004 by
JD
I saw the new Thunderbird team at Moffett a couple weeks ago. These guys
are good. They are very good. They have a hokey introduction with the
"sharp young officer" act being overdone, but what the hell, the purpose is
recruitment, so I guess the over-enthuiastic rah-rah is just part of...

Does China have long range bombers? by

Does China have long range bombers at this time that can reach the
continental United States?
Although they have nuclear bombs, what about the planes to deliver
them?
I know China had some TU-16 planes years ago, but did they ever
develop long range bombers or get any from the former Soviet...

C-5 Galaxy hit by missile over Baghdad by
Aerophotos
Seems in the news, a USAF C-5 Galaxy was hit by a unkown missile over
Baghdad, it then landed due to USAF reasons "was a excessive noise
vibrations in a engine" - no mention of missile at all when first
published.
Some noise vibrations eh?, imagine if it was shot down?
USAF PR would describe it...

P-38 Exhaust by

Time to do my share to improve the S/N ratio here at r.a.m,
or at least make a try at it!
It's easy to overlook. No exhaust pipes visible protruding
from the sheet metal around the Allison engines on the P-38.
Given that Lookheed, and Kelly Johnson in particular, paid
a lot of detailed attention...

Is it almost guaranteed if you want to use the air force to get into

Meaning/origin of Bravo Zulu by
morten lund
Hi all!
I've come across the phrase: Bravo Zulu a couple of times in this group, and
I'd like to know exactly what the phrase means, and if someone knows the
origin of the phrase.
My first guess would be that its connected to Adm. Zumwaldt in soe way?
