Comm in a bag? by
Richard Lamb
A unique solution for airplanes _without_ electrical systems
After a couple of long cross countries in slow OLD airplanes,
we've come up with a novel solution for handling hand held radios.
Flying with a hand held can be a little more interesting that with
built in radios.
First, there is a lot...

Lightspeed -- Was:Oshkosh 2003 Redux by
Jack McAdams
Everything was trimmed!! (-;
Counterpoint to the Lightspeed QA 'issue':
I have a 20XL and a 30XL. Both have performed flawlessly from the day
I got them. Maybe I'm just lucky, but that never happens! To be fair,
I don't listen to music in the air so I am unqualified to comment on
the audio...

I am trying to get some information on a P-51 mustang called "Spare Parts".
My wifes grandfather worked on this plane while he was in WWII. Said it was
his favorite airplane. He was a mechanic and help build this plane from
three that were damaged. I am an amature artist and would like to make...

Fiberglass vs. Fabric by
Lou
Ok, I just finished reading Tony Bingelis's "sportplane builder"
section on covering a wooden plane with fiberglass instead of the
intended fabric. Has anyone in this group ever done this or some who
knows someone who has done this? I'm building a wooden place that
calls for
a fabric covering. ...

Oshkosh gate admission on Sunday 24th? by
Montblack
I've not been to Oshkosh on the first weekend, always later in the week.
Can you walk around looking at planes (for free) on Saturday 23rd and Sunday
24th? Show opens on Monday, July 25th. When do they start charging 'gate
admission' at Oshkosh?
What's open/available the first weekend vs. what's...

Advice, please: too old to fly? by
R.W. Behan
There can be no better source of advice than this group for my question: am
I too old to take up flying--and building an airplane?
Full disclosure. As a young man in the Korean War I was an aviation
machinist's mate in the Navy. As a forestry student in the late '50's I was
a smokejumper, so I...

Torsional Vibration Testing by
B2431
(2) Would homebuilders eventually demand evidence of such testing
from vendors to the experimental market? Or is it likely that the
average homebuilder would never become aware of the need for such
testing?
I was unaware vendors hadn't done such testing. If I were me and was going to

Fuel System Musings, comments encouraged by
flybynightkarmarepair
My blog has become a way for me to think out loud about my project.
Putting things down in a narrative helps me crystallize my thoughts,
and give me something to refer back to when the time comes to move
from thinking to doing.
Anyway, I've been THINKING about my fuel system, and have put down...

Want simple flight planning software by

I'm looking for a simple flight planning program or link to do some long
cross country, short leg vfr flying. Something simple, without weight and
balance computation or having to put in fuel burn and power setting. Don't
need any graphics. Just a flight log type that uses an airport...

4130 sheet source by
Leon McAtee
I'm looking for a source of some .063" thick 4130N sheets (5), in
UPSable sizes. Wicks and AS+S have been out for a while and even
Dillsburg hasn't got any and "might have some 4130-A in a month or
so". Seems there is no more 4130N sheet being made and hasn't been
for a year.
If I can't find...
