Digital Photos (was: Reno Suite...) by RST Engineering
There was a comment on the "was" thread about .jpg being an inferior format to a couple of other formats. So if my Kodak 1.3Mp camera only downloads in ..jpg, how do I fool it into downloading in some other uncompressed format? According to the camera specifications, the actual file format is...

Serengeti Sunglass Parts by RST Engineering
As luck would have it, I tore the right paddle from its mount on my Serengeti glasses while loading the airplane for departure. Not a chance I can get them fixed by tomorrow morning, but when I get back does anybody know of a good place to get repair parts for Serengetis? Jim

Aircraft Clipart by RST Engineering
The Ground School is starting in March and I'm ginning up the flyer to post hither and yon to get the class filled. I've got some really bad clipart from the old DOS days of single engine propeller style aircraft. Does anybody have a pointer to some decent current clipart? Jim

Oshkosh '06 Coffee Cup by RST Engineering
I have an unbroken string of dated Oshkosh coffee cups (mugs) going back to 1974. I would be very happy to send somebody Paypal money to pick up and send me one from this year's show. I believe that the EAA Warehouse store will pack for shipment and there is a post office on the field if that...

OSH rah/rap Party??? by RST Engineering
I just got back from a business meeting over by SFO and I have seen absolutely nothing posted about the Wednesday night party in OSH. Are they all still there? Did I just miss an entire thread? Inquiring minds want every trivial detail. Jim

Get Rid Of Warbirds At Oshkosh by RST Engineering
I'm prejudiced. Of course I'm prejudiced. In 5000+ flight hours, I've never come as close to a midair as I did at Oshkosh 1999. Oshkosh Tower: "BlueOnBlue Cessna, number three for runway 27. Ercoupe put it on the numbers. Flight of three T6s, cross over runway 27, right downwind for runway...

Was The Idiot Legal? by RST Engineering
Ignore if you will for the moment 91.13, the catch-all "careless/reckless" provision that can getcha if you sneeze during the approach. Let's see if "idiot" was legal. What else can getcha? 91.103 might be a good start. Lessee, it starts off with a catch-all that says you have to have "all...

RAP & RAH Oshkosh field frequency by RST Engineering
I think we could coexist with Vette on 123.3 with handhelds on the field during Oshkosh, but I just did a fairly detailed search for 123.5 and found no takers within twenty miles. THEREFORE, let's make that rah/rap on field coordination frequency 123.5 and don't give your kids the transceiver to...

(sorta OT) Free Ham Radio Course by RST Engineering
With the crossbreeding of amateur (ham) radio operators and pilots being something on the order of 25%, this is only slightly OT. There is a free online ham radio course being offered and sponsored by RST Engineering. It is intended to take anybody with an interest in getting a ham radio license...

EAA Board Of Directors (Here We Go Again) by RST Engineering
I sort of feel like the Harold Stassen of the EAA election process, but here we go again. In 1997, I ran for the EAA Board Of Directors and got some 700 of you to email me your proxies. The vote was 700 to 35,000 for the proxies that EAA held for the current board member candidate. (I ran in...

I'm sorry, I can't find the initial thread on this subject by a person who calculated a forward CG on his Cherokee...if I missed the pertinent newsgroup, would somebody please repost for me? 1. It would have helped if you had given us the serial number of the airplane to be sure we looked up the...

Thanks to the 300+ of you all that put your ink signature on the line and nominated me for the EAA Board of Directors. I'm on the ballot. Here's the reality. There will be 300 to 500 members at the meeting on the Saturday of Oshkosh week to elect the new directors. The EAA holds some 35,000...

Gasahol Update by RST Engineering
Taken directly from the EAA website www.eaa.org and then to the autogas STC page: In the opinion of EAA, and in the interest of most conservative operations, the following observations are offered: a.. If alcohol content is less than 1%, fuel will probably have no effect on aircraft.

Oshkosh Bound Posters by RST Engineering
The 2005 Oshkosh Bound documents are up on the website for download. There are two zip files. One contains all the posters (camping, classic, homebuilt, camping, etc) and the other contains a clean graphic of the Ripon-Fisk-Oshkosh runway procedures. Comments and error-reporting appreciated. Jim

Left Coast Oshkosh Convoy by RST Engineering
Current thinking ... Tooele UT (pronounce Too-willuh) is a good cheap ($2.90) gas stop and Rawlins WY is a good overnight stop (Day's Inn gives a $60 price to pilots) but is a little high on fuel. ($3.43). The first on-course reliable autogas stop between California and IOW is Audubon IA. I...

Kitplanes Articles -- Volunteer? by RST Engineering
I have about three or four years of my monthly Kitplanes columns that have not been posted on my website for you all to use. I used to post them every month, but with dialup it was taking me (literally) hours to cut, paste, upload, resume ... for each article. I also had a wonderful volunteer...
