You guys missed a good one. by Stu Fields
Central Sierra Helicopter Meet was a grand success. There were a couple of R-44s, several R-22s, Two Bell 47s and two Jet Rangers. With all of the certified clutter out of the way, there were two helicycles flying, several under construction showing the various aspects, a Mosquito flying all...

Question for the Turbine pilots. by 601XL Builder
We have a doctor who just bought a 206 and after less than a month the chopper has been sent for a new engine. I heard he had a "Hot Start" and burned out the engine. While I'm both fixed wing and helicopter certified I have zero experience with jets so what did he do? And what's it gonna cost him?

Don't know how many of you caught the story out in California about a has been rock star named Tommy Lee whoes main claim to fame seems to be screwing Pamela Anderson on a well known and universally distributed home movie type video tape. Seems Tommy wanted to go to a rock concert being held...

TGR Helicorp by JohnO
Hey, these guys are just down the road but I'd never heard of them. The stuff they claim to be working on looks incredible. Anyone ever heard of these guys? The owner is a former politician in NZ - not exactlly a ringing endorsement! http://www.tgrhelicorp.com

Helicopters? by Ol Shy & Bashful
I confess. I'm a rotor winged whore. In spite of the degredation of this board and the slipping of standards, I keep hoping for things to improve. Perhaps that is the mantra for a helicopter pilot? Damn that just made me laugh. Maybe I am good for something after all? Why has this NG gone south?...

"Interesting" NY Times Article by Steve R.
That's an interesting one. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious why they can't account for the hours flown. The article indicates that they don't have data on past hours flown so they can't speculate whether or not the increase in accidents has anything to do with an increased number of hours flown...

Linden Accident - Question about "Droop Lock" by Bob Chilcoat
I was talking to a Sikorsky pilot at our airport about this accident: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20050926X01530&key=1 He said that Sikorskys have a "droop lock" in the cockpit that should prevent the rotor from getting too low. How does this work? Does it leave a certain amount of...

Introduction: by Don W
Hi Guys, My name is Don and I'm an alco... whoops. I mean to say that I like to fly helicopters. After flying fixed wing since 1973, I made the mistake of taking a helicopter "discovery" flight last year, and now I'm hooked on landing in inaccessible places and taxiing in the air. Help me...

UK RNAS Culdrose Airshow- anyone going? by Joe landy
Hi all, Believe it's soon the weekend of Culdrose airshow. Anyone going? In fact, some web pages quote the 19th, others quote 16th. I thought it was on for 2 or 3 days? I'm in Cambridgeshire, so it's a bit of a trek by road. Anyone from my area dropping in by air? I'd be interested in hitching a...

Vortex by Stephen Austin
Which basically amounts to the same thing, doesn't it? You're still going to have to have sufficient altitude to nose over to gain airspeed either way or can you recover more easily once the VRS is halted and the rotor blades are flying in relatively clean air again? Hmm, no, not really. ...
