1000km Alert - Mojave Desert to Reno & SW Nevada - for Sunday 07/13/2014 by
WaltWX[_2_]
Ladies and gentlemen,
A great summer soaring pattern for long cross country and triangle flights is developing late this weekend. Sunday looks fantastic with just a taste of scattered cu 15500 to 18000 and light E-SE low to mid level flow for early thermal starts.

1000km flights by
[email protected]
On 30 December 2017, there were 34 flights of over 1000km posted onto the OLC. These were all in Namibia and South Africa. What is the record number of +1000km flights done in a single day? I would imagine there could have been more flights done because not everyone posts their flights on OLC.

[email protected]
Right now Ron Schwartz is on course for a 1000km attempt out of Blairstown NJ in his schweizer 1-26. Who says you need glass or high L/D to go far.
You can track his flight on the ssa.org live tracker. Go Ron!

Nick Kennedy[_3_]
Does anybody know the history of the above ship listed on Wings and Wheels?
At a asking price of 13k it seems like it could be a great first glass ship for someone. There taking offers. Looks like it needs a computer, some tow out gear. Throw a couple of thousand at battery's, trailer if it needs...

103 Storage by
BTIZ
inside? outside in the wind and weather?
each wing supports part of the other with the "center spar pin" that
connects to the other root, could cause some undo stress on the fuselage
where the free end of the spar might bang around in the winds..
I do know of a Grob 103 that was stored as such.....

It seems that the European Space Agency has quietly, albeit
experimentally, been collecting mass ADS-B data from space.

10k Flights by
JS[_5_]
Today at Mountain Valley Airport, Tehachapi, California there were about 18 10k flights! Weather was 66F/19C and sunny, but no real lift.
Five of the flights were in three sport canopy equipped 1-26s participating in the annual Open Cockpit Regatta. We'll get some up on OLC.
