Effects of CG on cruise speed by gman
Hello All, Does anyone know if the location of the CG effects the cruise speed in something like a Skyhawk of Skylane? In other words, given the same weight, will the cruise speed at 75% power be higher or lower if the CG is moved from near its forward limit towards its aft limit. I think the aft...

DUATS and LockMart by Jay Beckman
Hey All... I may have misinterpreted what I read, but did anyone else recently see any mention of a possible plan to take DUATS out of the realm of competitive bidding, give it soley to LockMart who would then remove it's status as an "official" source of Wx info? Jay Beckman PP-ASEL Chandler,...

I intend to buy a handheld. by almostthere
Just got my ticket and I plan to purchase a handheld Nav-Comm for back-up but it is said that they're useless at altitude without an external antenna connection. What connector do I use (BNC?) and how do I go about doing this on rented C172s? Any alternatives/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Was The Idiot Legal? by RST Engineering
Ignore if you will for the moment 91.13, the catch-all "careless/reckless" provision that can getcha if you sneeze during the approach. Let's see if "idiot" was legal. What else can getcha? 91.103 might be a good start. Lessee, it starts off with a catch-all that says you have to have "all...

Oil and the Future by Bob Fry
Nice series in the Chicago Trib. Sure, it's written as doom-n'-gloom entertainment rather than dry facts and analysis, but they gotta sell papers. Does make one wonder about our own (general aviation) future. Note: As a courtesy to r.a.p., and against all tradition, followups have been...

what headset to buy by [email protected]
Hi folks - I'm new to the group - I have my ppl checkride in a couple of weeks, and when I have it done I'll probably do mostly short sightseeing and medium cross-country flights. I'd love some advice on what headset to buy. Everybody always says "it's a personal thing" but that obviously doesn't...

Damned Lawyers by Skylune
Yet another example of how the greedy lawyers are "ruining" GA. The FAA and the "pilot" bear absolutely no responsibility. http://www.oregonlive.com/metrowest/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/metro_west_news/1154406349134000.xml&coll=7

Cigarette Lighter Adapter- Cessna 172 by [email protected]
I've been flying for 7 years now, and a few weeks ago I attempted to plug in my portable GPS unit into a 2003 172 and ... I couldn't. The "standard" cigarette adapter has been replaced with a smaller something. I didn't have time to look too closely as to what the new outlet is. The GPS was just...
