JN-4 Curtiss by
Jabbar Thomas
Hi, folks,
I am a recent film school grad writer/director working on my first
feature length script that involves aviators that flew between WWI and
1926. The "CN-4 Curtiss Jenny" is the plane that I will be dealing
with for the most part. My first requirement is to find someone who
knows a lot...

ki-61 two tails? by
old hoodoo
I have read a reference that kermit weeks' ki-61 has two tail units. I
understand that there is an allegation that a relatively intact Ki-61 in
PNG had its tail unit scavenged (illegally) and that the extra tail unit
that is with the Week's 61 belongs to that aircraft. Considering the rarity
of...

Mystery Propellor by
M Pengelly
Hello,
I've just 'inherited' an old wooden propeller and would like to know if
possible, something about its past. On it are two metal plates. One reads:

GIPSY MAJOY
D6' - 4" P.4' - 6"

STuck piano hinge pin by
Dick
My old project plane has working flap but it appears pin for hinge is
corroded and stuck.
Flap needs to be removed for access to rear main gear bracket.
I can't get a grip on holding the pin and pulling or twisting. Being cheap ,
would rather not cut the pin into small removable pieces as a...

Fairchild PT-19 Gift by
M Pengelly
Hello,
I've recently been asked if I would like a ride in a Fairchild PT-19 trainer
and as I like to give something towards the flight, would like to buy the
owner, something connected with the aeroplane.
Please, can anyone tell me if there are any books available on PT-19s or
23/25 etc, or does...

Caufman starter cartridges still for sale? by
Wright1902Glider
In the book and first movie version of "The Filght of the Phoenix," a shortage
of Caufman starter cartridges is a key plot point and provides the dramatic
climax of the story. I've done a quick internet serach and did not turn up any
current suppliers for said cartridges. How would the movie...

Need to learn dope and fabric work by
David Hill
I need to learn good old fashioned dope and fabric work, you know, using
butyrate dope and real cotton fabric. I'm building a 1920s replica,
want to make it authentic as possible.
My question -- will the EAA Fabric Covering workshop be useful? Even if
they use "the Poly Fiber covering process?" ...

Compass restoration by
[email protected]
I was given a pair of compasses to rebuild which seemed pretty
straight forwards until I got to the point of having to repaint the
body.
Does anyone know what paint is used? Or something that
does not react with mineral oil or purified kerosene?
Thanks

Curtiss Hawk 75 by
JDupre5762
This has been one of my favorite planes for many years. Some years ago I knew
a former WW2 pilot who became one of the first regular service pilots to fly
the P-80. Previous to that he had been a combat pilot in P-47s and before
leaving the States for Europe he developed a reputation of flying...

VIRUSES by
Ken Anderson
G'day All,
After a few 'laced' emails from this Forum, and a bit of research, it would seem that a nasty virus (swen?) has been propogating via this Forum.
To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't propogated via/past my email client, as I'm sure I've trapped each occurence and killed it (with...
