Airnav? by Hankal
I had reported on my trip to Georgia a few days ago. Now the rest of the story. I used Airnav for the cheapest fuel stops. Also used it to get my motel at Days Inn with the discount on Airnav. When I called for my reservation the gentle man quoted a price of $71.00. I told him I could get a better...

airport cars by Kobra[_3_]
Flyers, I was reading my Pilot Getaways Mag this morning and found an article about something I've been thinking about myself for years. It is an internet based Airport courtesy car club. I just signed up today because I have a POJ (piece of junk) that I keep at ACY and every time I go there...

Airport lat/lon database by Ron Garret
Anyone know where I can find a list of US airports and their lat/lon positions? I know about the airnav site, but that only lets me get one at a time. I need a list that I can feed into a database. (I only need US airports with instrument approach procedures.) Thanks, rg

Airport Radial/Distance/Fix on Jepp Airport Chart by Dave Johnson
I "discovered" Jepp has decided to remove the radial/distance/from fix info on the airport plan view that defined the ARP. Am I the only one that uses the info .. loaded into the RNAV .. so, for example, when ATC says 'radar contact 6 NE of the xyz airport' I can look at the RNAV and verify that I...

Airport security still a welfare to work program in Atlanta by JJ
This quote clipped from fox news is total bull**** in Atlanta .(The worlds busiest airport) TSA did not change a thing. The black welfare to work program at Hartsfield Atlanta was replaced by TSA with blacks in charge. At the beginning, there were white managers and white employees. But, the blacks...

Airspace Question by Evan Salant
I fly out of Linden (KLDJ) Airport, which is located under the floor of Class B Airspace (Newark Airport's bravo airspace, shared with JFK and LGA). The traffic pattern altitude at LInden is 800 feet and the floor of the Class B airspace is also 800 feet. My question is this: What is the...

Airspeed Indicator Accuracy Tolerance by O. Sami Saydjari
In my Cessna 421C, the pilot-side airspeed indicator reads 6 nts below the co-pilot-side airspeed indicator. When I pointed this out to a mechanic, he said that it was "within toleraance." He said it was possible that one was 3 nts high and the other 3 nts low and so both could be within...

All yuor troll are belong to us. by C Kingsbury
Merry non-denominational Holidays to y'all out there. Things seem a little quiet here so here's my year-end wrap-up. Jeppesen plates are better because they'll get you in to a lot of airports when goverment plates won't work. It's because the minimums on Jepp plates are lower, because they're only...

Alternate Intersection Name in Brackets? by Marco Leon
Hi all. What does it mean when there's an alternate intersection name in brackets in the new AOPA Flight Planner? As an example, there's an intersection just south of the Wash D.C. Class B where V286 and V16 cross. It's called TAPPA but the new AOPA flight planner also has in brackets. It also...

Alternate Mimimums? by smf
What exactly does the /A\na on approach plates mean. I know it says Alternate minimums not authorized. Does it mean the airport can't be used as an alternate? thanks Steve

Alternate minimums same as forecast weather by [email protected]
Does anyone consider it somewhat dangerous that at your alternate airport, the weather can be forecast to be as low as your alternate minimums? Seems the potential for problems. For example, using Carlsad California CRQ as the planned alternate, where the VOR-A is the approach you plan to fly...

Alternate minimuns and "TEMPO" in the forecast by Paul Tomblin
When you're determining if you need an alternate, and whether you can use an airport for an alternate, do you use the minimum of the normal forecast, TEMPOs and PROBs? -- Paul Tomblin http://xcski.com/blogs/pt/ Unix is great. The Unix culture is magnificent. Life in a Unix...

Alternate requirements by Anthony Chambers

Alternate same as departure? by dlevy
Can you file the departure airport as the alternate? Two airports in the middle of nowhere 40 miles apart. I can't think of another reasonable option.

Altimeter discrepancy by Gene Whitt
Y'all, I have been flying in an aircraft where ATC has occasionally mentioned that there is a 3-4 hundred discrepancy betwee our communicated altitudes and that of our blind encoder. We have acknowledged the difference. The altimeters were certified some 300 miles away only three months ago. ATC...

Altimeter inaccurate by smf
My Altimeter is accurate when on the ground or at lower alt. When I climb up to 7k and above and check it against GPS and approach controls read out it is about 300+ feet off. Is it the altimeter I'm having problems with? Steve
