Lowrance AM 2000 or Garmin 296 by
John
I have posted here a couple of times, after soloing and after my
introductory flight. I am trying to decide between the Garmin and Lowrance
GPS handheld units. I Googled. Any input and why you like the particular
unit/feature would be greatly appreciated. Also since there is a
significant price...

Ride Sought to Oshkosh or Minneapolis From PDX area by
Alan Peterman
I'm a non-current pilot who needs to get to Minneapolis sometimes before the end
of the month, and as a lot of folks are headed to Oshkosh, I thought I'd see if
anyone has room for me. I'd of course share gas costs, and as I was a
commercial IFR rated pilot I can help fly or navigate if desired. ...

Sorry for the cross-posting, Guys and Gals, but I'm appealing for your

How much for a medical in your area? by
Greg Houston
x-no-archive: yes
What are Class III and Class II medicals going for in you area, for
example metro Boston or metro Philadelphia? I've run into the problem
that the AMEs I've called are too busy with their regular practice to
do medicals. Unfortunately, the FAA only permits so many AMEs per
each...

Military Flight Training by
Paul E. Lehmann
If one learns how to fly single engine and multi engine aircraft in the
airforce at a military flight school, does one automatically get a single
engine, multi engine and commercial license upon graduation? Is this valid
for civilian flying after discharge?

Replacing the mixture control with a pre-charger by
DeltaDeltaDelta
A couple of days ago, I downloaded a Diamond HK36 motor glider for Flight
Simulator. Upon closer inspection of it, I found out that it has no mixture
control lever, but it has a low-power turbocharger. So it got me wondering:
1.) does the real aircraft have that and 2.) can it be possible that,...

Wake Turbulence Question by
HankPilot2002
I was level at 1500' MSL and ATC announced a Gulfstream bizjet crossing from my
right to left, 3000' MSL less than a mile lateral distance. I had my
instrument student do a 360 for wake turbulence separation and dissipation.
ATC questioned my actions and told me the 360 wasn't necessary.
BTW: I...

PIREP : Lowrance AirMap 500 by
Ardna
I know a Google search reveals a lot about the Airmap 500 but I am more
interesting in hearing from people who actually own and use one. I am not
interested in discussions between Lowrance and Garmin and which is better
than the other.
In particular..
1. Battery life is meant to be 12 hours , any...

Yaesu/Vertex coax antenna adaptor by
RM
regarding the long thread on transceivers...
I still have the BNC antenna adaptor for the stolen unit. If any Vertex
fan would like it enough to stop by and pick it up (can't see as it's
worth packing up and mailing), I'd let it go for five bucks or maybe a
few beers. In Dallas, near ADS.

Downright Scary... by
Jay Honeck
Whilst supping a cold one with friends at our hangar not long ago, a
short-lived yet intense summer storm blew through. High winds, heavy rain,
and impressive lightning caused us to lower the door a tad, but didn't deter
us from our appointed beers.
Right as the storm passed, we watched in...

1917 Curtiss Jenny. I got to meet Paul's wife, Winona. I think Winona was a
