Wet hangar interiors by
glider[_2_]
A hangar with insulated ceiling and walls seems to have less
moisture problems than one with no insulation.
Along the same lines, it seems that the interiors of the newer
double shell glass tops are dryer that the single shell metal top
variety.
Am I wrong?

jcarlyle
I was helping a friend with his ASW-20, and we took a mystery
instrument out.
The instrument consists of a small project box containing a single
layered printed circuit board, non-silk-screened, that holds 3
integrated circuits, a few resistor packs, a few capacitors and a 20K
trim pot. Etched...

Vintage Home Gliding Movie(s) by
Bob
One of our Texas Soaring Association (TSA) members, Dave White,
discovered a VHS tape in a dusty old drawer at TSA made by June Wiberg
who compiled and narrated all of her old glider days home movies from
the 40's to the early 60's and sent it to TSA. June was the wife of
Wally Wiberg, who owned a...

USA contest charts with turnpoints by
Tom Kelley
I have been using charts made my Taylor Blackburn, the daughter of 9B,
Andy Blackburn. The best I can say is they work very well in the
cockpit and also, for planning purposes while on the ground.
These charts come with the contest turnpoints and are laminated to
last for several years. Much eaiser...

LS-6C Winglets by
Cumulus
Does anyone have any info on winglets being installed on an LS6C 17.6
or other LS6's even 15m versions?
If so, is anyone in the US making and installing the winglets?
Is the gain worth the cost?
Any info welcome.

operation, I spent some quality time with a SPOT customer service guy,
and got some very interesting info about the new SPOT 2 tracker.

Does Wx/Block work ? by
glider[_2_]
Many products come along and some might work.
I have seen a wing that was yellowed on bottom and still quite
white on top. The owners had been using wx/block on top only. So, does
it work? I'd say "Yes".
Tim, Bob, ...you can pay me later.

Pre Takeoff Checklists by
Tony[_5_]
Seems to me that it's been a while since we had a good brouhaha over
pretakeoff checklists. Most of use use either ABBCCCDDE (or is it
AABBCCDDE? Or ABBBCCCCDDEEFG?) or CBSIFTCB or some other variant. I'm
curious what you use and WHY? What have you added or subtracted to
the "base" checklist to...

302 wind calculation by
5Z
The best way to get a good wind calculation while flying "straight",
such as on a final glide, descending through wind gradients and
shears, I do the following per conversation with Dave Ellis a few
years ago:
1. Turn 45 degrees off course and fly straight for 10-15 seconds.
2. Turn 90 degrees in...
