Soaring Cafe? by
Renny[_2_]
Does anyone know if "Soaring Cafe" is still operational? The website still works and its Facebook site also works, but I have seen no new postings since the end of December. Now, perhaps it is because there have been no submissions, but it does all seem a bit strange.
So, does anyone know "what"...

Soaring Centerfold by
[email protected]
I just got my latest Soaring magazine and really
liked the new centerfold shot. I hope they do this
every month.
Reminds me of the great shots by George Uveges
and Alex Aldott in the 70's soaring magazines.
Good Work Dennis and to the art director!

Soaring Chillies Calendars by
Steve Leonard
Did anyone else in the US order one? I did, and it
seems the postal service between here and there has
eaten both shipments. The second set was shipped about
a month ago, and still nothing. I have typically gotten
things quicker than this, so I fear the second set
has also been lost.
Anyone...

Could anyone please give me or direct me to contacts for the Soaring

search the WEB through Google without success. Chos Malal is reputedly
one of the top 5 or so best wave soaring sites in the world, others
being Minden and...

Soaring Christmas 1995 by
Roy Clark, \B6\
Found this on an old disk - remember them ?
Posting again - yes, I know, your favorite glider is not there.

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with...

Soaring club billing software by
Bob Caldwell (BC)
Hi Pilots,
I recall there was a piece about this in SOARING mag several years ago but I couldn't find it in the archives. Does anyone have any info about this? Our club would like to update how we keep our records, bill our members, collect our money, accept credit cards, keep track of aircraft...

Soaring club close to NYC, with high-performance gliders by
City Dweller
Hi all,
I am a newly minted private pilot and I really want to try this soaring
thing (and possibly even get a glider rating.) I live in NYC and fly out of
Caldwell, NJ (CDW). Being a proud owner of a composite airplane (Diamond
Star) I am hoping to take my introductory ride and further training...

Soaring Club Culture by
[email protected]
The Soaring Club of Houston is considering some changes in our operations to create more of a club atmosphere with ownership for the club equipment. Currently we have a scheduling system where a member can show up, fly the glider, and leave. It is the daily crews responsibility to get the glider...

Soaring Club Financials by
[email protected]
Haven't seen much discussion of this topic and I'm rather curious what the consensus is. I know of some clubs that did not open this year. Other clubs opened late and still others opened and just as quickly closed.
I'm curious what kind of shape that leaves the soaring community at large with to...

Soaring Club Strategic Plans? by
V1
Our soaring club, the Soaring Club of Houston (Texas), has grown
considerably over the last several years. As a result, we’re starting
a strategic planning process to help guide our future growth.
If other clubs have any planning information they could share, I’d
appreciate copies. I’m interested...

Soaring Clubs in Ireland? by
Ryan Spicer
I'm spending a month vacationing in Dublin, Ireland. I was wondering
if anyone here could recommend a relatively close-by glider club. I
don't think I'll be here often enough to justify getting a BGA-
acceptable medical, even though I'm rated in the US, but I'd still
like to take a flight to check...

Soaring Community Consumer Warning by
BobD
I like many others understand that the glider community is small, and perhaps getting smaller. In trying to sell my glider, I placed an ad on Tim Mara's Wings and Wheels. He states on his website that he offers this for free to help the community. Or so I thought.
Selling a glider is a difficult...

If anyone is aware of a "Soaring Composite Index" which incorporates
all of the weather factors relevant to cross country soaring, please
post details below or contact me directly. So far, I have Jack
Harrison's excellent forecasts for the UK as a model, but I'm looking
for other inputs.

Soaring conditions around the USA this season so far by
son_of_flubber
May 2014 in Vermont was excellent for this year. I managed to fly on seven days. 4/7 days had rare strong lift, high ceilings, and reasonable wind.
Last year June was mostly rain, but maybe the good weather pattern will continue.
I'd be interested to read meteorological retrospection on why the...
