Fixing the Transponder with Duct Tape and Aluminum Foil by
Ron Wanttaja
I'd installed my new Microair transponder a month ago, but have been having
troubles with interference. The transponder was inducing bad clicking
sounds into the comm radio receiver, making the radio difficult to
understand.
I couldn't really blame the Microair, since the Terra transponder I'd...

Fixing up the Airpath Compass. by
brian whatcott
The Airpath compass is meant to work in a fluid
filled chamber.
A bubble is an annoyance. A leak leaves you with a
trembling indicator that won't indicate a heading
with any reliability.
Gasket and fluid kits are not that high.
From Chief etc. $20-$30
If caught short, don't try making a...

Flaglor Scooter by
Larry
Any Scooters flying around? I wonder how well it performs. Looks like a
pretty easy plane to build and the VW engine could pretty much stay
"stock" with no need for cowling. Maybe it would be a good bird to down
size to from a faster plane.

Flap Controller: Does anyone make this? by
Gig 601Xl Builder
The 601XL I'm building is designed with a simple ON(mom)-off-On(mom)
flap switch. I was wondering if anyone makes a gizmo that would go into
the circuit that would allow a single momentary push position the flaps
into 10º then a second would move it to 20º and so on? Obviously the
same going...

Flap design question by
Chris W
I have been looking at some of the pics people at Oshkosh have been
posting and was wondering
about the design of the flaps on some of these planes. Instead of the
whole trailing edge of the wing
hinging down like most planes I am familiar with, only the bottom skin
of the trailing edge hinged...

Flap gap seals made from vertical venitian blinds by
One's Too Many
A buddy of mine is contemplating making his flap gap seals from the
thin PVC plastic blades salvaged from a set of vertical venitian
blinds. The blades are very thin and flexible enough, and more than
ample long enough, and are 3" wide, which will need trimmed down to
about 2.5" wide so they don't...

Flap Hinge Moment Calc by
Bo
Is there a quick way to calculate what the hinge moment (or turning
moment for the flap shaft for a specified condition) is for a flap on a
symetrical foil.

Flap/Gear Actuation Systems by
Wayne Paul
Several weeks ago (maybe months ago) Doug sent me some pictures of his
unique flap and gear actuation systems.

Does anyone recognize the source of flap screw jack drive or the gear drive?

Flaperons by
Lou Parker
I just don't get it. Can anyone successfully explain how flaperons
work? Are they better or worse than seperate flaps? What are the pro's
and con's? It seems to me if one fails you have no recovery.

Flexible air intake hose by
abripl
I am using 3.5" dia Aeroduct-CAT ducting for a short distance directly
from my intake plenum under my fuselage to the carburetor. The problem
with the CAT is that the wire reinforcing and fabric do not give
radially well, so it transmits some engine vibration to the fuselage.
I would like to find...

Flexible exhaust tubing by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
I'm looking for a source of 1 1/2" flexible exhaust tubing. Mild steel is
acceptable. I want to use it for a model of the headers of a tuned exhaust
for my 0320 Lycoming engine that I have mounted in my Baby Belle helicopter.
The idea is to have 4 equal length pieces attached to exhaust...

flight Instruments on the Cheap by

Anyone know about a seminar at SNF

A while ago, I remember someone describing an attitude gage consisting of a
tube loop (the loop was orientated fore and aft) filled with a liquid.
Wonder if some arrangement utilizing a manometer (sp? "u" shaped open...

Flight over densely populated areas by
JK
I have been planning to build my own airplane for quite a while, but I have
a nagging question that I never see addressed. FAR Part 91.319 (c) appears
to prohibit flight of experimental aircraft over "densely populated areas"
(whatever that means).
The entire text is: "Unless otherwise authorized...

Flight Restrictions on non-amateur built experimental aircraft?? by
Don W
Currently there is an "experimental" Bell 206 /
OH58 helicopter on EBAY.
I know that many of the L-39's and other warbirds
are operated as experimentals since they were
never certified in the US.
My question is this:
If you modify a production aircraft and call it
