Batteries, charger for Yaesu handheld - NiCad or NiMH? by
David Herman
Who knows about batteries here?
I have a Yaesu (now Vertex Standard) Aviator Pro II VX-120 handheld radio.
It's a good, basic unit that has worked flawlessly, it'ss relatively cheap
and is all the technology I need for this. My question is about batteries
and chargers for it.
When I bought the...

Battery and Vacuum pump by
PaulaJay1
My battery is 3.5 years old and the vacuum pump is going on 350 hours. Both
are doing OK as best I can tell. What is the collective opinion reguarding
replacement of each of these? The factory recomended replacement time for the
vacuum pump (Aero Accessories AA-215CC) is 1200 hours but the old...

battery charger to get through Piper power port? by
Kyler Laird
I bought a cheap SLA trickle charger at a ham fest awhile ago thinking
I might use it with a cable I made for my Aztec. On a warm (but not
warm enough) day last week I tried start the plane without heating the
engines. I failed. I thought it would be a good time to try the
charger.
I knew my...

Battery Chargers by
Mike Rapoport
I have recently converted from NiCad to lead acid batteries which are supped
to have a life of 2-3 yrs. The batteries cost about $1500 for the pair and
I am interested in maximizing their life the extent practical. I have heard
about "pulse chargers" that reportedly reduce sulfate on the battery...

Battery charging C172 by
rowntree
Due to a prolonged period of non use the 24V battery went flat on my
C172N. Is there any way a charger can be connected through the
external power point rather than the hassle of removing cowls to
connect battery charger alligator clips. It could be handy to connect
a trickle charger ocassionaly...

Battery heater: Any experiences? by
Peter R.
After having some rather lucky starts last winter, I am thinking of adding
a Tanis battery heater to my Tanis system. On paper, this new heating
element makes sense to me.
Any experiences?

Battery Question by
mbremer216
The battery in my plane (Cherokee 180 - 12 volt) is getting pretty long in
the tooth. Any opinions on replacing it with closed cell battery instead of
the old type with the caps?
Thanks
Mike

Battery Replacement and Cold Cranking Amps by
O. Sami Saydjari
I have a Gill G25 battery in my Piper Arrow III (PA28R-201T). I
recently had a situation where I ran out of juice after 4 attempted
starts. While I am sure that I can improve my starting technique (I am
a newbie for this particular plane), I would like to have a bit more
power in my battery,...

battery self-destruct by
[email protected]
Hi,
My airplane has a Gill G-35 battery in it. The battery is less than 3
years old. We did a 10-minute run up about 2 weeks ago. The plane has been
sitting in it's hanger for the last 2 weeks. The master switch was OFF and
the battery was NOT on a charger.
Today I went to use it, and found a...

Battery storage? by
Roger Long
We put a fresh battery in our plane for the winter starting season even
though the old one was in good shape. On advice from several sources, I put
the old one on a Sears trickle charger as a spare. The charger claims to
sense the battery condition and be suitable for long term connections.
I...

BBS??? Weekly Chat??? Anybody up for it??? by
Jim Weir
Hey, gang...
Well, the Avionics BBS over on Yahoo was a spectacular failure. We had five
posts in six months and we just let the board go away. There was a problem,
though, that even as the administrator I found getting TO the board to be a
royal pain in the tush.
However, I get 8-10 posts a...

be?st choices for new engine for P210? by

(Sorry if versions of this message show up twice. Right now it looks

The engine on my 1980 P210 has reached TBO, and I'm trying to figure
out the best course for replacing it. Cessna experts who I trust in
Santa Maria, CA have suggested a new Continental engine...

Beal AFB TFR ??? by

Planning a trip from Tacoma, WA to San Diego I find a security TFR for Beal
AFB that seems to be renewed on a daily basis. It looks like they have
extended the Class C top all the way up to 18,000.
Will they clear you through it, or must you go around? I'll be around 7500'
and if I can't go...

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd throw this out for discussion and see what comes from
some of the experienced people on the list.
I'm helping out some at a local school. The owner of the school is a
REAL penny pincher. He scrimps and saves anywhere he can. He'd reuse
oil if he could (he already...
