Why not a Quad Tiltrotor Pusher-Puller? by
Blair Maynard
I haven't looked much into the future design of the quad tiltrotor, if
anybody else has, please post any info you can. But a quadtiltrotor
seems to be a promising project. I presume the engines in front and
rear would be standard forward-facing props and I guess they would be
offset so that the...

Midway air battle by
Bob
I am researching the record of A. R. Stitzelberger, a distant relative, who
was a gunner in the Battle of Midway. According to the official battle
report the plane that he flew on the Enterprises' first sortie of the battle
was subsequently flown by two other pilots and gunners. Was it common...

WW II Hellcat & Fabric Covered Stab. Why ? by
Bob
Hello,
Saw a video on the WW II Hellcat, and on the walk-around it was
mentioned that the Stab. was fabric covered.
Not sure if anything else was.
Really surprised.
Why did they use fabric on the Stab. ?

Vought Inverted Gull Wing Question by
Bob
Hello,
Figure that you folks would know.
I seem to remember (Sr. Citizen now) that there was a fighter plane
around WW II time that had an inverted gull wing like the Vought
Corsair, but going "the other way."
First was an upward angle prior to the straight wing section.

Aircraft Carrier naming by
Bob
Anybody else bothered by the naming of US aircraft carriers after
people who were still living at the time? I'm sure that Carl Vinson
(CVN-70) & John C. Stennis (CVN-74) did good thing but to have a
carrier named after them? I wish the US Navy would go back to naming
carriers after famous battles &...

QF-14 by
bob urz
Why did not the US turn the F14 into QF14 drones rather than just cut
them up? How many F14's are left in the bone yard?
I see there are plans for QF-16's when the F4 supply runs low.

China/US naval air battle by
BOB URZ
Given the tensions in the pacific rim part of the world, it seems a
possibility of a air exchange between China and a US naval carrier
battle group. My question is what would be the likely outcome of such an
exchange? (non nuclear)
With modern SU27 and SU30 fighters, the Chinese seem far...

CBG WWIII tactics by
Bob Urz
Given a WWIII scenario. Your out in a hot area with a carrier battle
group. ICBM's are detected and an nuclear exchange is in progress.
(not in your immediate area) What would be the immediate tactics a group
would do?
Since odds are the carrier might soon be disabled or vaporized, do you
get...
