Anyone know the weight difference? by
Lou
Does anyone have the knowledge of what the weight difference is between
1 square ft. of 3 mil. plywood and 1 square ft. of 1/2" styro core
composite?
Or maybe someone could give me the weight of the 1 square ft. of 1/2"
styro core composite?
Lou

Sport pilot flight rules limitations by
Cal Vanize
I've read Part 61. Its more than a little confusing. I understand the
limitations of a sport pilot flying under a "driver's license" medical.
That part is pretty clear. I currently hold an "old" commercial
license with an instrument rating and have quite a few hours. I don't
hold a current...

Shock Mounting Gyros by
Doug Palmer
I am starting the planning of my panel and wondering how many people have
shock-mounted their gyros. Please also comment if you have NOT done so, and
weather or not you think it actually helped. I am working with limited
panel space (aren't we all) and the shock mounts will take up valuable...

VOR disparity by
Rich S.
I have a Collins VOR receiver and a connected Collins VOR/LOC display
installed in the Emeraude.
The receiver has an LED digital display for frequency or bearing. If I
select, say, "from" I will get a display of the bearing from the VOR
station. If I rotate the OBS on the panel VOR/LOC instrument...

Biplane design questions by
Chris Wells
A few questions, for those in the know:
Both of the radio-controlled biplanes I've owned were designed with the lower wing at a higher AOA, so that it stalled first. They also had the upper wing farther forward than the lower.
If the lower wing stalls, the CG will be a little on the aft side of...

The Man Who Couldn't Cleco by
[email protected]
Needing some high-strength 7/16ths bolts, over the holidays I visited
one of the unofficial RV assembly plants here in San Diego county.
Located in an industrial park adjacent to the airport, the fellow has
set-up permanent fixtures just like a real aircraft factory, allowing
him to assemble an RV...

Forum for Sport Pilot talk? by
Nils Rostedt
Hi!
Is there any active web forum with a special focus on Sport Pilot and LSAs ?
SP used to be a fairly active topic in this newsgroup, but recently I have
seen surprisingly few entries here (and some in r.a.piloting). Maybe I'm
just getting blind and my google searches bad, but please...

The Lycoming is time-proven by
Bret Ludwig
It's time-proven to be a ridiculously expensive, inefficient, loud, and
generally nasty beast of mediocre reliability. I hope Textron loses
money on each one and finally shutters the 652 Oliver St. building
quietly and without fanfare one day. Certificated aircraft owners will
be looking at...

"scratchy" radio transmission by
[email protected]
I am looking for ideas here; ATC says my radio transmissions sound
'scratchy' or 'staticy' as little as 15 miles out on callup. I have
been going nuts trying to find the cause. The aircraft has 2
independant radios, 2 antenna systems (one on top of the fuselage, one
underneath). One radio replaced...

Sonerai Wing Plans for study? by
rocketeer
Hi Group!
I have been away so long. I am not someone any out there are familiar
with. A lurker at best.
I am now ready to start building my Renegade Formula V again. But, the
wings are wood...
Does any one have any study plans available for the Sonerai I? I would
like to see what can be done for...

The RV is a lot of work... by
Bret Ludwig
It's a lot of work to build and you wind up with a skittish little
plane with either a piece of **** Lycoming or a lot of kludge work to
accomodate better.
