Grease recommendation by Bastoune
Looking for a good grease recommendation for general use around the glider (main pins, ball fittings, etc.). Something locally available in the US would be preferred! Anything that I should definitely stay away from? Thanks, Bastoune

New bug wiper system by Tom Kelley
Bugs only hang out within several hundred feet of the ground. So, new system is designed to keep them off and then if you stay high, you need not them high cost bug wipers which might fall off and damage your wing. Have your crew soak a roll of toilet paper, yep, and several minutes before you tow...

Interesting... by RRK
Deuche Folksegel Flugzeug Gmb. proposed a very interesting and elegant solution to the notorious problem of very slow and painfully long self lunch of all German motor gliders. Simple electromagnetic clutch between the motor and the glider main wheel will allow the glider to gain the take off...

DG's latest volley by raulb
In the latest DG newsletter: http://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de/newsletter-138.html As I read Dirks' comments, Weber is full of crap. I also think Weber shot himself in the foot by publishing Dirks' comments. As laid out by Dirks, the rules say "the latest version" of the manual has to be used. He...

In search of drier trailers by None[_2_]
Do you have electricity at your trailer? There is a device called Dampp-Chaser that is used inside pianos to keep them from soaking up humidity. It is a long rod that is heated electrically and will elevate temperature enough to keep a piano dry (but not too dry). Two or three of these...

Aluminum top Cobra trailers leaks - how frequent? by AK
A few people told me that their Cobra trailers with aluminum tops developed leaks. I wonder how frequent this problem is. Obviously aluminum top is nice to keep it looking good, but one of the the purposes of a trailer is too keep the glider inside dry. In New England we sometimes get 4 inches of...

[US] Source for plastic wheel chocks with holders? by Papa3
One of the plastic chock holders that came with my Anschau (Komet) trailers has fallen apart. Before I do the obvious and go to the trailer dealer(s) for an (expensive) replacement, has anyone found a local source for these? I'm looking for a set of light-weight plastic chocks with holders, so I...

CG limits for Ventus 2bx? by Frank[_12_]
I finally got some good main and tail wheel weights today for my V2bx using the weighing procedure set out in my maintenance manual. I computed the CG for both the empty and 'flying' configurations, but was unable to compute the CG as a percentage of aft CG limit, as I couldn't find anything in my...

Belt material for take up reel? by GARY BOGGS
I'm looking for the belt material that was used on a take up real on a tow plane we are using. It was 3/16" round, orange, rubber like material. We had to cut the belt to length and splice it together in place because there is no way to get it on without taking the reel all apart. We would melt...

In search of drier trailers by Martin Gregorie[_5_]
I have a box trailer with an aluminium skin. It keeps the glider pretty dry, but in condensing conditions I do sometimes notice that the glider skin feels damp first thing in the morning. I'd really like to prevent this if possible. The main possibilities seem to be: - fit passive ventilators -...
