Prop Balance and Murphy by Denny
WIth 4 hours on the fresh top overhaul I decided it was time to balance the prop as we removed the weights when sending the props out for new studs... I was delayed a bit at my monthly meeting down in Grand Blanc and got back to the airport at a quarter to one... The Kid was chomping at the bit......

Buying a used COMM by res
I want to buy a used COMM that is working (with all the accesories needed) It is not going to be mounted i n a plane, itīs only for my home. Iīd prefer a better price than a newer one, so an old COMM could be accepted. Thanks Iņaki

Mooney M20F narrow across the shoulders by Mark Hansen
I looked at a 1969 Mooney M20F over the weekend, and was surprised to see how narrow it is in the cockpit. While sitting in the pilot's seat, I was pushed to the right by the left side of the cabin, and was not able to sit directly behind the control yoke. Perhaps I'm just too big for this...

What engine would you like? by [email protected]
What would be the ideal configuration for an aircraft engine, given contemporary technology? 1. Start at 0 degrees F with no fuss? 2. Water cooling for dependable cabin heat? 3. Automatic mixture control for altitude & power? 4. Automatic timing control? 5. Jet fuel (availability)? 6. Piston...

Best price Aeroshell 10W-50W? Where to buy from? by Paul Millner
P L E A S E get me a stock number. If I can get that, my local Sam's might be able to order it from distribution. Sams in Concord, CA used to have 15-50, I know they have 100. I'll look next time I'm over there, and write down the number. Paul

Air Shares Elite and Cirrus Sr22 by Teranews \(Daily\)
Is anyone familiar with Airshares Elite? They sell 1/8 shares of a Cirrus SR22. You basically buy 1/8 of the plane and pay for fuel, and then pay a management fee of $750/month to cover insurance, hanger, all maintenance (including engine/prop overhaul), cleaning and washing the plane, and...

fuel leak or auxiliary fuel pump malfunction? by [email protected]
From time to time pilots have observed fuel stains on the nosewheel wheelpant of our club's 172SP. The only time I have actually seen fuel dripping from the engine was when I watched a pilot turn the auxiliary fuel pump on for what seemed to me to be an excessively long period of time. The fuel...

Oshkosh attendance by [email protected]
For me, OSH is out of the question this year. With so many costs up, flat income, and the cost of fuel so high, it is just not in the cards. I am wondering if there are others in the same boat. EAA carefully guards attendance figures but for those that are there, what does it look like? Lots of...

millenium cylinders and 80 octane by R. Wubben
I am curious about a situation I haven't encountered before. I just bought a '62 Cessna 172 with 70 hours on an overhauled 0-300 engine. New millenium cylinders were installed. Can I, or should I, run on 80 octane or 100LL? The airport that I'm moving to has 80 octane available (a rarity in this...

Altitude Call Out is COOL by Jay Honeck
Okay, so I finally figured out how to turn the XM radio off without killing all audio output from the 496. (It's not as easy as it should be...) This has enabled us to finally hear the little "Southwest Airlines" chime, followed by bitchin' Betty purring "Altitude...500 feet..." through our...

Sales Tax in NJ by [email protected]
Hi All I'm in the process of purcasing my first Plane from a private owner. The current owner lives in NY state and I live in NJ. I know with cars I would pay sales tax at NJ Motor vehicles when I register and title the car but how does the process work with Planes? I was told that you just snd in...

Buying recently rebuilt or fixing one up? by [email protected]
I am currently taking flying lessons. I would like to own my own aircraft and have been considering various options. I am currently training in a 152 and I think a 150 or 152 would be a fun first plane to build time with. The 150/152's that appear to be in good condition seem to be in the 35k range...

nj to new england by chris
Are there any pilots out there who fly frequently to New England from New Jersey. I am not a pilot yet, but have taken some lessons. I love general aviation and small planes. I travel often to New England from NJ (Teterboro area) and I would love to find a friend or partner who also travels to...

Selling Aircraft by Ross
Not sure who is here anymore, but I have been a poster over the years and learned many things here and also saw some very sad personalities appear in what would have been good discussions. However, I digress. Just letting the community know that I have sold my nice IFR Skyhawk after 12 years of...

Low oil pressure, high oil temp? by Roy Smith
This spring, my club bought a 1973 200 HP Arrow with about 500 hours on the engine. Shortly after we bought it, we had to replace several cylinders and one piston (I'm not sure of the details of why they needed to be replaced). The oil pressure always indicates at the low end of the green...

Good Electrical shop in NorCal by Robert M. Gary
I have a strange, intermittent charging problem in my Mooney and am looking for a good electrical shop. I've changed out the alternator, battery, regulator, field wire, alternator ground wire and several other items and I'm still having a charging problem. I'm looking for a shop that knows how to...
