How to file XXX to XXX? by
Nicholas Kliewer
If I just want to do IFR approaches at my class D airport of origin,
how should I file? One FSS person suggested that I file McKinney (TKI)
direct to a 5 mile on a 360 radial from the airport (which has no VOR)
and then back to TKI -- putting "multiple approaches" in the comments
section. Any...

IFR through Detroit Class B by
Andrew Sarangan
I am planning a trip to PTK (Oakland County) which is about 25 miles north
of Detroit. I will be coming from the south. The route is V493 to CRL and
then direct to the PSI VOR. Planned altitude is 6000'. This will take me
almost directly overhead the DTW airport. What are the chances of...

I am contemplating a flight form Venice KVNC to Atlanta with a fuel stop at
KLCQ Lake City, or close to it depending on fuel prices.
Do not want to go into the big airport in Atlanta. Any one have comments on
airports near Atlanta within Taxi cab distance.
Thanks

KRMN ILS 33- Interesting Approach by
Brad Z
http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0405/09743IL33.PDF
I haven't come across an approach with two separate missed approach
procedures before. Is this even remotely common?
I think I'll add this to my instrument students' training regiment due to
some additional interesting features- teardrop course...

This approach is marked radar required, and there is no charted feeder
route to the IAF. So one approaches via a random route under radar.
ATC will not issue an approach clearance until within 15 miles of the NDB.
In the past I was told this was due to their need to ensure the a/c was
within the...

Cruise clearance by
Hankal
How many times do you get a cruise clearance. Ever get "unable"
Lets say the cloud layers are 4000 to 5200. You are cleared to 5000, but want
to climb to 5300 or above. Is it possible to get a "cruise" clearance to stay
above the layers? What about over class B?

STAR to neighboring airport by
Viperdoc
Recently I was arriving from the southwest to my home base of UES (Waukesha,
WI), and was given the Veena arrival.
However, the Veena arrival is not listed as a STAR to Waukesha, but is under
the section for Milwaukee, which is around 20 miles away (in the Jepp
charts). Waukesha is not under the...

Daytron clock? by
Hankal
Daytron Clock.
The stem from my clock fell off. Looking at the ends where the stem meets are
tiny indentations like miniature gears. I have no idea how they fit together.
See no break. What holds them together? Should I just use glue to join then
together?

ILS or LOC Approach by
Richard Kaplan
It seems that recently approach charts have appeared labeled "ILS or LOC" --
examples are at HAO and RMN.
Is this a change?
Why?
In the past ILS approaches with an underlying LOC would still be titled
"ILS".

Hi group
I purchased a used encoder altimeter (Aero Mechanism TSO-C10b/TSO-C88

is damaged.
Does anyone have such electrical connection schematic drawing (a copy
of it) to send me so I could at last understand how to plug...

There seems to be a lot of questions regarding the new instrument rating
